Happened last night, really hacked off. Does anyone know what the process is for getting these fixed? Do i need to send it away or can i just take it back to GameStation?

Flashing Red Lights on Xbox 360!

Get in touch with MS on their customer support number. They should sort it for you - think you have to deal with them direct.
Had this happen to me twice and on my 3rd 360! Call MS (number is on their website - http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/support/contact/) and explain the problem. They will ask you to send the console in, ask for the label to be emailed to you as its much quicker than waiting for one in the post.
You then have to call UPS and arrange for them to pick it (free of charge) and wait a couple of weeks for it to come back.
Both of mine got fixed in under 10 days, have heard stories of them getting returning in less than 5 but also some taking a month!

I really must be lucky! I'm on my first xbox (first release of the 360), and I'm STILL to have any problems!
You can take it back but I have heard of places which won't let you keep your original hard drive hence why I always ring MS.
Some of you are very lucky with your consoles, I think it is luck of the draw as I look after mine and the ones which did become faulty I hardly played on.

Cheers for the info guys, I might try Gamestation first of all i reckon, its just over a year old but ive still got the reciept and all that so worth a try. Will be better than waiting anything up to a month to get it back.
Gamestations returns policy only runs for a year after purchase so ive missed that by a month, looks like ill have to go through Microsoft, buggeration.

I wont go into too much detail as DK has me down as a 360 hater 
Apart from about 15% of launch day owners.....EVERY 360 is dying, ms will replace this (3 red rings) under warranty from 3 years after purchase date (altough they take purchase date as 1 month after MFR date)
You will now probably get a new motherboard WITH HDMI although this is not 100% certain, the 07/07 premimums is when they were being shipped.
Either way, if you have not had 3 reds, Id hope you do before your 3 years run out

mine has totally died, had it for 3 months from brand new from gamestation. It just crashes on the title screen. No red lights but also no lights on the front either? and it wont load or anything and the lights keep spining on controller?
shall i take it back to gamestation? i dont want to lose my saved stuff on my hard drive though-any advice?

If its only 3 months old send it or take it back mate.
You have 1yr manufacturer's warranty, and if you have the receipt you should be able to take it back to Gamestation and they swap/return it under terms of warranty....If not, phone MS.

yeah i think it did come to mention it.
I started playing a game demo i downloaded and it crashed on it whilst loading, then i reset the console and started doing it. It wont even load past the screen so its definatly goosed. Im going to game station tomorrow with it, i hope i can keep my hard drive.

looked on the side of the machine and it says it was build 10/11/2006, i bought it brand new 04/07/07-its all packed up ready to go back. Im going to take it back to gamestation with all the games ive got and see what price i can get for it against a ps3...if i have to pay much towards one ill just get another xbox360 cos i like the machine, i just dont like the reliablility.
