After buying the car 2 weeks ago it has annoyed me how bad the paint was. Due to lack of time it has taken me this long to sort it out. Borrowed a hand from Jacko172Cup to help detail/PC it. The car has come up a treat and looks stunning. The wheels are badly marked and will be re-furbed within the next month or so.

I do like it :)

I'm thinking about chopping in my tt for one! How do they compare to a clio sport in terms of fun?! I used to have a cup, now have a 280bhp tt and its a lovely car, but it just doesn't have the same feeling!

ill be honest, i havent had much chance to throw it around due to weather and lack of time.

Handling seems very good and precise though, does obviously feel bigger/heavier than the clio though. The ATB Diff works well but can be abit of a handful, aslong as you expect it to do the unexpected its fine. The ATB does pull you round corners very quickly and the speed you can take corners is scary in some cases, it feels too planted at high speed.

Ill give you a better review etc when the weather picks up though but i do love it and would recommend one to anyone :star:

the back end does look like it's missing something to me...

I think some US spec rear lights would finish it off perfect. The front end is awesome! Pure aggression

plan is US rear lights and two reverse light lenses on the back so they both match.

very nice chap, must be nice running something different daily to what you have to play on track with.

do like the original FRS, come up a treat

Awesome car. Here's an interesting RS vid I stumbled upon just now. Escort Cosworth vs. Focus RS MkI vs. Focus RS MkII.

Focus RS MkI wins the 'test' overall.

What dont you like about the TT Chris? I was considering selling my Focus ST and getting a TT.

It's a fantastic car in everyway, however....

the steering doesn't have much feel, there's understeer and oversteer on the limit, the engine sounds dull, being as well made as it is, it doesn't feel like you're going as fast as you are!

I'd heard the reviews before I bought it, kind of ignored them as I thought I'd tune it, but you can't get away from the fact the 4wd system saps alot of your fun (the opposite to what I imagined! you cant wheelspin easily mind), it's a heavy beast, and the steering is just poor.

The interior is a very nice place to be, you can't compare to hot hatches to be fair as it's in another league. People still look in admiration as they think it's an expensive car. It's not let me down once for reliability, absolutely solid.

In summary, they're a lovely winter bus, heated seats and oodles of torque are lovely, but now the weather is getting better I'm going to be throwing in the towel for a drivers car. Focus St isn't on the cards for similar reasons...

I think im going to have to have a drive of a mapped TT sometimes, i found the standard TT too laggy for my liking which is what put me of.

Is the steering just really vague on them? No real feedback? Ive only had a crappy test drive from a garage on some dual carriageway etc so never really got to push the car and experience its handling etc. Only thing i miss on my ST compared to the 182 is the fact that the 182 would pull pretty much to the red line where as the ST you can feel the turbo run out puff around 6k, even when mapped. However the torque offered by a mapped ST is incredible.

Don't always believe the companies that map them, they're often RR'd at around 250bhp after the map, mind you the torque increase is impressive. Mine's had a few things done to it and it's 280bhp, but there is some lag which is to be expected from a 1.8t.

The handling is vague you're right, I don't feel one with the car like I used to with my old 172 cup, it really does feel like you're driving a big car, I would imagine the ST to be similar.

You should have a drive of an ST. I suspect it to be a different car to what your expecting.

You'll love the 5 cylinder engine note...sounds brilliant. Like i say its down fall being it runs out of puff around 6k...but this is a characteristic of turbo cars really.

As for the handling it feels heavier at the front than a 172 due to the much larger engine however the handling is brilliant imo. Feels really sure footed and i feel much more comfortable covering ground at a fair old rate of knots than i ever did in my 182. I am tempted to get eibachs for the car though at somepoint as apparently these really improve the handling.

What mods have you done to your TT to get 280bhp and is that a proven 280bhp?

Lovely, the splitter really does make a big difference to the looks.

Can you put pictures, like your RS one, on that headunit to show all the time?

I'm sure they're better than I'm giving credit for, granted, but it's just not what a hot hatch should be, imo. Hot hatches should be lightweight, rev to the redline madness, any extra weight numbs responsiveness...

I've got turbo back, intake, and a good map by jabbasport, RR proven @ 280bhp fly and 285lbs ft torque.

They're worth a drive, it depends how you drive etc.

Back on topic though, I'm dead set on a mk1 Rs now! My mates got one and I may have to blag a drive, I had a run against my 172 cup and it was neck and neck tbh, a few choice mods and they must be mental.

Love it.

Whats the front splitter mate, is it a pumaspeed one? If so, standard or Evo? Mine needs one of these!

Its a pumaspeed one. I got mine from Ebay for £30. Took a couple of weeks to come but f**k paying pumaspeeds prices lol.

Love the MK1 FRS'. I know people usually aren't lovers of the interior but I like it. Uber comfy as well.
