Ford fair 2012 silverstone 2x Clios

Nice to see a couple of frenchies showing off true legendary status! i saw one ph1 172 in silver. 2 lads in it. And as i was in the stands I saw a ph2 black 172 showing everyone how to hit an apex (Adam?) i have a few pictures of your car on track if you are interested

ahhh, Ford Fair. The one show i used to look forward to more than Christmas. Was always good to see non ford cars blasting around the track or trashing the pants off em up the 0-60 sprint. Got too modern for me and much prefer the Classic Ford show full of mk1&2 escorts, Festa's, Anglebox's and Cortinas. Cars with character and each one with a story to tell.

TBH compared to stuff like that epic yellow XE mk2 escort (the SBD stickered one) the clios I did see out on track looked pretty pedestrian, I think you have a serious case of the rose tints if you think they were showing anyone anything, LOL

A Clio hitting the 'apex' wont be quite the same as MK1 Esscy 'doing it sideways' on that same bend.

TBH I don't think I hit one! It was greasy as hell after that quick shower and I'd swapped my Maxxis tyres to the front as there was more tread on them, BIIIGGGGGG MISTAKE it was like being on ice lol and that was the D & D lap. Had the RS16i (I think it was) up my chuff who didn't know the rules of a red flag and a MK1 estate trying to put some heat in his in front tyres, nightmare session.

I was there and inall fairness there was huge amounts of power going around that took limelight off the quickest of Focus RS let alone anything slower.

It was a fantastic day though. Was nice to see other cars round around the track but Trax is for that.

I was being a bit sarcastic when I said about the showing them how it was done. There was nothing that matched the 611bhp ford escort cosworth and some of the other team cars. I will post the pictures up in another thread and link them in here

Can I just ask? How did you get in the track. I really wanted to do it this year in my car but it says that its strictly fords only. Did you just wait till towards the end and ask politely?! Or is that just a rule in place to stop every man and his dog turning up for a track day and take up ford track time?

Long story lol. I didn't actually book it for that reason as I thought I'd get refused. Then I saw on PF that people were taking non Fords on. Then Porkie on here and PF etc couldn't make it, so I bought one of his sessions. Think they just say that to make it majority of Fords which you can't blame them TBH.

The problem is that Fast Ford magazine and Future Events (ie the organisers) want it to be specifically Fords only and they do not want any non fords at all on track.
But silverstone so far have been piss poor at enforcing it.

I suspect at some point they will get better at it and people will actually start getting turned away even though they have a paid for ticket, but the reason they couldnt do that this year was that the tickets that went out were generic ones, same as Trax etc, and hence said on them "any make or model of car is allowed" so if you were stood holding one of those trying to get on track in a clio they wouldnt really have grounds to turn you away.
