Forza 3

i was about to say I'm not actually bothered, but they do look worse than Forza 2 which wasn't great.

Now now, let's not turn into the anal-bots of the Forza messageboards. We're surely paying our money for a cracking racing game couple with unlimited customisation and a fantastic online experience. Does it really matter if the photo's aren't Fuji worthy?

Yeah, it's a let down, but beggars can't be choosers.

totally agree, which is exactly why I was going to say I'm not bothered. Its a luxury that doesn't matter to me in all honesty.

lol, you think that lot are bad. You should see one of the threads on GT Planet, several Forza vs GT threads were closed due to the bickering that ensued. The only one left on there now is GT5p vs the Forza 3 demo and it's descended into them analysing Dan Greenawalts body language, facial expressions etc to try and descipher whether he was lying during the E3 presentation. I kid you not, you can't make up s**t as rediculous as that, lol.

I agree it isn't THAT important but whats the point in showing these amazing shots off then when it comes down to it they look nothing like what you can actually do in game....its like them taking different alloys off and just having standard ones only....you can't see them while racing so it doesn't matter....but most people will spend some time picking a cool looking set of wheels and it would be cool to take some realistic pics of them

I understand the problems with bandwidth but why not lower the number of pics you can have on at one time (like with forza 2) to allow larger files?

This is from PGR3 ffs...how old is it now and how good does it look?

PGR4's photomode was epic. I started a thread a while ago with some shots from it but it seems to have disappeared. I'm guessing the forum can't find it what with the changes around in the gaming/pc/console sections in the last few months.

lol its only blurred because I changed the focus on to the background....my point was that the compression on the picture is minimal

Focused on the car

Ignore the fact that the detail is less on the car (obviously due to the game not looking as good anyway) but the compression is not an issue on this

Chris

I've seen some better ones than those I've posted above but it gives you an idea. PGR's photomode was great some epic shots produced from it. It's just a nice addition on top of the racing.

f**k only knows what Bizzare were thinking when they started making their current offering. I really enjoyed the PGR games, the physics were arcade compared to forza but always had a nice feel to drive.

They were great, but the damage limitations put me off. It was like driving around a concourse car every single race. The constant shine was almost too beautiful.

I hope this is all true

A moderator from FM.net replied to their 7 page topic on photomode in the F3 section, then locked it.

What are my honest thoughts?

The game is drop dead gorgeous. My pictures... even the crappy ones... are stunning... The GOOD ones are just as I suspected... pure magazine fodder. Is it real... or is it Forza 3? I've taken well over 50 photos at this point, and from the detail on the cars, THE RIMS!! the tires, the TRACKS! it's just nearly impossible to stop wandering around the car without getting drool all over the freakin' camera lens. We'll all need towels, that's all there is to it.

I've got a 720 x 480 video capture card that won't do these photos justice. phRedesign told me yesterday that the process for getting the pictures out of the storefront is somewhat convoluted until the servers go online. I have asked him in a PM a few minutes ago, if he has time today, to grab some pictures I took of a Subaru he painted so I can show you all first hand what you have to look forward to.

No disregard intended to the pictures that have been posted earlier in this thread, but I had to wince when I saw those. It's not download compression, because there's NOTHING coming off the servers right now. That essentially means that the whole point of this thread indicating that Houston has a problem is moot. As much as the conjecture flying around right now in this thread has made interesting reading, this thread is not what I'm seeing in the full release version of the game so I'm going to save everyone from any further concern about a Photomode fail.

Photomode ROCKS in FM3. The dynamic levels are 10 times what they were in FM2 which has allowed me to take shots directly into the sunlight and pull stunning detail out of the shaded areas of a car that would knock you socks off.

So hang tight, relax, and I'll ask if we can get some pictures posted that I've taken in the past couple of days. T10 won't be in for a few more hours, and I've got to get back to work at MY actual job."

I hear PGR5 is going to be started very soon! Obviously not by Bizzare as they're now Activision owned, and MS own the PGR IP.

I'm hoping it's not more than 3years max tbh. As much as I hate the cost of replacing hardware I think devs have reached the limits of what they can get out of it already looking at how static relatively speaking the improvemend of titles has been.

Next gen could kill off a lot of developers. The cost involved in producing the assets for a current gen title is often beyond the money they make back if the title flops. The lack of certain features or reduced quality visuals in games are more often down to the cost attributed to achieving them. There has to be a cut off point, otherwise no one would ever make any money.

tbh it's an odd position for the games industry to be in right now from an outsiders view. It's a huge industry and in some respects it's comparable to big title motion pictures in terms of money involved, staff, customer base etc. But like you say it's big money to invest in making something "current gen" so risky if it bombs. You weren't getting the small quirky cleverly made stuff on a modest budget until PSN and XBL arcade came along.

Perhaps it's a case of some devs having to understand their tech and budget limitations and stick to making XBL arcade/ PSN titles on a reduced timescale/budget for a reduced income. At the moment you see some unknowns try to play with the big boys and churn out bad games that visually look like they should be on the PS2 and expect people to pay £40 for the pleasure. I'm not knocking the Arcade titles, Trials HD and shadow complex are proof that great games can be made without having to max out hardware but at the same time it would be good to see the big players push it on so we get some truely epic stuff on full price titles.
