Forza Motorsport 5

MS needed to impress me with Forza to sell me the hateful kinect equipped advertising box they're selling this gen, suffice to say they've failed with what's been announced thusfar.

Why is that Lotus F1 car hovering about 3 inches off the ground?

Tyres not looking realistic on the surface they're supposed to be on, yet again.

Possibly because it's only a virtual (and very rough) approximation of a real-world scene and the indirect lighting methods in their global illumination engine don't produce photo-realistic results. Maybe. :)

Joking aside, I think it looks ok. Photo-realism in video games is years away yet. Decades even.

Deal breakers bolded right there for me.

Why would they drop those? Unless they'll all be dlc?
Hopefully all seperate if thats the case, fcuk Maple Valley.

I didn't get on that well with Forza 4, TBH, so Forza 5 isn't interesting me this time.

Can see why a lot of folk would be annoyed and frustrated though.

The only reason this isn't appealing to me, is the fact I'd need to fork out for a new steering wheel.

Road America was one of my favorite for the faster cars :(.

I am proper gutted at those cuts, certainly not going to rush out and buy the game now. Ya marina and Prague are new though.

Prague does zero for me.

City tracks ftl. I know they're good for graphics, but I'd sooner see Paul Ricard in there, over some flashy cityscape.

Maybe I'm just old fashioned.

Edit... I do have to say though, even with all this "bad" news, it does still look decent, and I don't doubt it'll be a cracking game.

Forza was the only thing that would have swayed me against the negatives the XBONE presents, loss of those tracks and a roster of 200 cars plus all the cynical milking of customers with day one DLC etc was the final hammer blow tbh. MS will be losing out on me (and countless others by the sounds of it) bothering to order so XBONE, Copy of Forza, DLC & XBL revenues missed thanks to a combination of a rushed, lacking in content title and their profiteering. Throw in the issues with wheel compatibility again and there will be a lot of the more hardcore driving/racing fans who will just stick with other systems and titles to get their fix.

Real shame as I've had some awesome races on Forza with some of the CS lot.

Only 200 cars and 14 tracks?

Someone over on Pistonheads put it well.

When next gen was announced one of the first things folk thought was Forza 5 would be over 1000 cars and 100+ tracks.

Just shows.

I just don't get why they would take away so many tracks? Surely they've put the time and effort into formatting it into the games or whatever so why remove them?

They should only ever need to add tracks/cars onto and not take them away.

It'll be so that they can "sell" them as DLC and make more money.

Unfortunately it's the way the gaming industry has been going for a while now.

By folk you mean idiots. I expected a drop in numbers, possibly to 300 or 350 but not as much as to 200, then there's the tracks I expected some gone but not as many, some brilliant tracks gone plus a couple which were recently modelled (Hockenhiem and Infineon) which you'd have thought would have been future proofed or at least enough of a scan etc taken to model for next gen given how it was so near to release and the development for 5 already in early stages.

It's ok though, we've got the Top Gear test track (who the hell uses that it's a boring flat airfield location) and Indianapolis which is hateful to drive oh and a Tilke designed classic which is always something people are clamouring to race on.

I'm sure MS will sell customers back all the cars modelled and scanned for forza 4 as DLC but held back a bit like they did with Horizon so we'll get back most of the cars from 4 once we've parted with £100 or so for the game.

Microsoft today provided more details on the Forza Motorsport 5 Car Pass, the digital offering announced last week for Turn 10's Xbox One title that includes access to dozens of vehicles. Chief among the new details is information about pricing, with Microsoft revealing the pass will sell for $50 and feature multiple car packs.

Each Car Pack will include ten cars, and the first will arrive alongside Forza 5 at launch on November 22. Subsequent packs will be available the first week of every month, starting in January 2014 and running through March 2014.

The first expansion, the LaFerrari Car Pack, introduces ten vehicles, including the 950 horsepower LaFerrari that has yet to be released in the real world. The other nine cars will be announced on November 18, Microsoft said.

Individual cars will be available for purchase separately, but Microsoft said buying the $50 pass will allow players to save 18 percent compared to purchasing individually. For the first time in the history of the franchise, every vehicle in Forza 5 will be available in Forzavista mode. This will allow users to explore the inside and outside of every car, Microsoft said.

$50 isn't so bad. Even if it translates to £50 over here I don't mind. It's a franchise I enjoy, a great game for 'socialising' with mates over and it's cheaper than a tank of petrol. Hardly worth getting worked up about (all in my opinion of course). Things have been going this way for some time now and will likely continue to do so; the 'Net we love/hate makes this type of content delivery so easy and publishers want to maximise their profits for funding towards future titles (and to keep shareholders happy).

does not excite anywhere near as much as GT6. If GT6 drives like Forza 4 I'm sold, all this coming from a massive massive Forza fan.

There was a season pass on Forza 4, wasn't as steep though.

So long as you can still buy individual cars from the packs thats fine with me. Most of them will be cack or just a painjob change on a boring R3 car.

The problem is you just know the first DLC packs with be a few MBs at most, simply unlocking the cars in the game as they'll already be modeled. It's just plain wrong, this stinks of an unfinished / rushed game to get it out for the console release. Sony did the same with GT5 to just get the bloody thing out after years of delays, and will most likely do the same with GT6 which for the next 6 months after launch will still be work in progress. I want a finished product!

The gear change animation in the F1 car is shocking, I've not once seen a F1 driver remove his hand from the wheel in order to press the gear paddle.
