Heading home the night to the house, not a sole on the road and out of nowhere on the dual carriageway at a flyover a fox (wasnt sure it was at first - looked like a white cat!) jumped out in front of me in the inside lane. Luckily no one was behind me or at my side, so when i whacked him it didnt move me off course, however i saw plenty of debris be ripped off the car. Knew straight away it didnt sound clever, so pulled in at layby and oh yes, good bye splitter, front bumper and the plastic undertray.
So went back round down to see the carnage, luckily as it was nearly midnight no cars about so able to collect all my debris, i had hoped the splitter would be weldable, however its well and truly furked, smashed in the middle and in about 5 bits and pretty impossible to salvage. Under panel is well and truly finished as well, a jigsaw of pieces there as well. Luckily it doesnt seem to have impacted on radiator and fully driveable, which is handy as i do a fair bit of travelling around.
Downside is not only the cost, but the fact that the car was pretty much finished in terms of the way i wanted it, and today i had just confirmed the final touch up spraying to the bumpers and for my v6 spoiler. Looks like thats on hold!
What baffles me is the fox was on a flyover, about 15m off the lower level where there isnt even dense greenery and fields, so what the hell it was doing up there i dont know. Even weirder was when i was driving alone a random thought came into my head about how the mileage is piling up on the car and that it is being ruined (have been looking a few 2nd cars to ease this issue) then within 10 seconds of that thought closing boff, fox appears and is there for taking off the bumper and splitter! Uncanny!!
I reckon its £450- £500 or so damage to get the parts from renault?
£143 splitter
£300 bumper + lower grill
£30 for engine panel?
who knows.
Least i know what to ask santa for
pics for the gullish.
I was going to take a pic of the fox as it lay there in the middle of the road, however its guts and everything were everywhere, so not the best. However, im sure subway would be right up for seeing them!!
oh and anyone selling an iceberg front bumper :rasp:
