Free iPhone wifi abroad

Hi im on holiday in the states and im on a bus for 3 hours with wifi. Ive managed to connect to the network on my iphone and i have the wifi type fan logo in the top left corner. It doesnt say 3g or anything tho. Does this mean im connected to the net for free on my iphone despite been abroad and im not getting charged for anything? Thanks

Yea lol it is 4 hours though. Manhattan New York to washington dc. More of a luxury coach than a bus tho lol.

Can get wifi on Virgin Trains in the UK.
