Front Components help appreciated!

  Audi TT 225
Hey.

Can you guys recommend a good pair of components that I can run from the head-unit without an amp, bearing in mind I may want to get an amp/sub in the future.

As I have no idea what any of the figures mean I really need some models in particular that you would recommend.

My budget is £200.
Thanks!

Sam

Yeah those will run off the HU :)

Not a bad little setup you have now then - what amp are you getting?

well on that headunit the speakers will only run at 50Watts peak because that is all the headunit will do. If you want to get as much power from the speakers as they can handle then you would need an amp. But yeah, you can run any component speakers off a headunit without any problems, just like I say they won't have as much power

I haven't got a clue about amps. I'll probably be looking to spend around 150 on the amp and then probably the same again on a sub.

Anyone have a similar set-up to mine and can tell me what amp they're using? I don't want a silly sub that fills up the boot so the amp doesn't need to be massively powerful.

Woops!
My Rainbow SLX 265 Deluxe arrived today, they're 6.5" :(
Is it hard to get them to fit or am I better off sending them back and getting some new ones that are 5.25"?

you "should" be able to get them to fit,if you make and mdf ring to mount the speakers then bolt it to the door behind the door speaker grill, might be a tight fit

Sounds like too much work for an uncertain outcome :p
Guess I'm sending them back then, I'm gutted!!

if you can measure how much room you have got to be able to mount an mdf ring then youll know straight away, saxo and 106's its possible but unsure of clio

I've changed my mind I'm gonna give this a go as I feel like a bit of a project, but I'm gonna need some help as I've never done anything like this before!!

How big do the MDF rings have to be? As in what is there purpose?
Would I measure them against the door or the speakers?
What thickness does the MDF need to be?
Will they fit behind the Renault speaker grill?
Am I going to have to cut anything in my door?
Etc etc. :D

Please guys help me out here :)

10mm mdf should be fine, the ring needs to be 165mm in diameter in order for the speaker to bolt to it,then the mdf ring needs to be bolted to the doorcard,no modification should be required for it to fit.so long as you use 10mm mdf spacer it SHOULD be fine behind the grill

mount the mdf ring in this position making sure the magnet will go back into the original mounting hole
