Front Disc's braking up (warranty question)

Hey,
after an annoying squeek me and my dad decidied to have a look and see if we could find the problem, and found something else (which may be causing it anyway)
Here's some pics of the driver's side:

Now clearly i need new discs theyre fecked, but do you think they'd be covered under the Renault Extended Warranty? i can't imagine it's been done by me overheating them or anything (i've never pushed it that hard), so i'm wondering what to do? I'd like to uprate them, but wondered if you guys know where i'd stand warranty wise!

Matt

Most warranties will not cover serviceable items like discs and pads.

I'd just go buy the uprated ones and get them fitted asap :)

Check your pads. Squeaking is normally there to tell you they're getting low on meat.

Won't be covered on warranty ! If they're only a week old take them back. Clearly however, they are not.

I assume you've noticed your f**ked CV joint boot? The rusty bits that are breaking off are just bits of rust that have built up because the pad is not touching the brake disc.

How long have you had the car? If you bought the car yesterday say and you noticed the discs were like that then they would sort it out. Otherwise they wont touch it just normal wear and tear same as the CV click.

Before going Check the CV joints, the clips are known for popping off ;)

It's pissing out grease on the pic!

They shouldn't break, but no idea if a extended warranty would cover them, but i'd expect it fixed on a car less than 3 years old.

Just buy a jubilee clip for like a £1 and wack that on.

Aye, gonna take it into renault and see what is said anyway as there seems to be a clicking from the driveshaft when rotating the wheel (could be bearing)?

Take it to Asda. Or the Post Office. Chances are the staff there know more about your issue.

Seriously !!!

There must be plenty of specialists around the W.Mids area ? BTM ??

Yeah Birchdown or BTM, unless Renault are going to fix it for free, but even then i'd rather go to a specialist.

you need new front disks and pads, and if you have clicking on cornering then due to the CV boot leaking all its grease out, you'll need a new driveshaft too. All wear and tear items

The saying ''A picture paints a thousand words'' doesn't really do iteslf any favours here.

Where did you buy that car from??

If it was me, i'd be taking it to fred, paying him some money to write you a problem list and take the s**t back! Look at the state of it!

eek.
ok haha, well i guess there's alot to sort out then! just from those pics Fred do you have a rough estimate of what it'd cost assuming what has been said is dead? Pads/Discs/Clip(or the cv itself?)/abs ring/driveshaft.

like i said, going to be popping up to renault to see what is said, but more than likely i'll be coming back up to you Fred!

got it at Renault in Swindon (Fish Brothers), it went through an MOT before i had it!

as a guess (it is a sunday remember, so don't quote me) no more than about £150 to sort that out, need to see the car though really, then i could advise you what should be sorted on warranty, brakes - no chance IMO

pretty sure there were no advisories on the mot, just looking for my car stuff now!

ahh ok that's not so bad then!
i'd also wonder how they'd stand if i uprated pads/discs in terms of warranty, though i can pretty much guess what they'd say! (though as it's not covered anyway, maybe they'll allow it?)

discs and pads won't affect a warranty, the only thing you need to worry about really is the cambelt/dephaser/clutch/gearbox/exhaust - they're the expensive bits

the rest is consumables, tyres, brakes etc

aye just checked the MOT, no advisories at all!

yeah that's what i wondered, also non-consumables such as the springs, i've wanted sportlines but if they void the warranty then i'd skip it!

coroded brake discs can't fail an MOT anymore, as long as they work they have to pass it, shocking really

Thats why I asked if it was an advisory ;)

When I worked for Renault we weren't allowed to sell a car with advisories, they had to be rectified.
