front or back

have just recieved 2 new michelin pe2s . my car (172 cup) currently has 4 original contisport contacts and requires 1 rear to be replaced. i ordered 2 new ones as wanted to keep same type to each axle.just wondered about opinions on whether to put new pe2s on rear or swap 1 good conti from front to back and put new ones on front. any advice would be much appreciated.

put new ones on rear, it better having more grip at the rear, seeing as cups have a tendancy of loosing grip there;)

The best tyres should always be on the back of the car.

Personally Id get the two new tyres at the back and the one good tyre stuck on a steal wheel and stick it in the boot for emergencies.

i would put new ones on the front

the rears would of worn more than you think and you should have as much tread as possible at the front.

they do the most work afterall

why? im not bein sarcy btw just confused

new ones on the back, they dont have the weight of the engine over the axle aiding grip and clios can be tail happy on wet roads or when hammered round bends so its always best to have the better tyres on the rear.

thinking about it a bit more you have a point, if you only have one wheel in contact with the ground which can happen a fair bit with a clio its best to have the grip there:oops:

its better to have more grip at the rear because losing grip at the rear is a lot harder to control than losing it at the front.

also front wheel drive cars normally will start to understeer and the nose push out when the tyres are shot at the front so hopefully this will let the driver know they are pushing too hard while the newer grippier tyres keep the rear in check.
