Front track - 16v - williams

  20VT Clio & 9-5 HOT

Rato, might be getting front track from a williams. Can anyone tell me what this should include if i buy it. i.e what other parts are attatched as a whole

Also is it a proper pain in the arse to fit? im changing gearbox, clutch and steering rack at the same time. iv never done it before though, so definately gonna be a challenge!

cheers

cool thanks mate!

is the steering column best being changed at the same time as im doin any of this? mines fooked! be a good chance to do it rather than bodge it!

yup, if your engines out do the rack.

But there was a thread a week or so ago about this same conversion, i listed all the parts and bits needed.

You dont need that much.

Aye m8 - that was my thread and as ben says, you dont need that much. Im about to do it too but im ordering the bits new so its taking longer and being more expensive ( :mad: ) as theyre on back order from france :oops:. You need;

Willy shocks,
Willy driveshafts,
Willy Anti Roll bar,
Williams Wishbones
Youre valver will probably be lowered ATM so youll get away with using those springs. Youll also need the bushes to go with the ARB too as the fitment is different from the valver ones. You do not need the sub-frame. You also dont need a williams rack as youll get away with winding the trackrod ends out on your valver one (the williams rack is dimensionally the same anyway although a different part number).

Hope this helps!

P.S Gonna have to get my one done quicker now - cant have one lagging behind.... ;)

Well, just wanted to be on the safe side really as i wasnt wanting to mix and match too much (e.g R19 wishbones and willy shocks etc).

TBH youre probably right enough about the R19 parts being able to fit. Certainly on the parts list i have, the wishbones are down as R19 as are the ARB bushes so the rest must be ok to use. As for driveshafts, Paul Mitchell told me the williams ones were thicker so i went for them as im living in hope of a TB conversion one day!!

*Edited - i wish! :D

they are all 19 parts mate. renault raided the parts bin to build the williams so nicked the 19 stuff for the wider track etc.

i dunno - paul mitchell says the willy shafts are defo thicker than R19 ones so there must be some other differences somewhere too - maybe damper rates etc? I mean, the R19 bits may fit but they may not be 100% williams spec.

just goin back to this, im thining about fitting. im gonna fit all this lot and a new box and clutch at the saem time. whats the easiest way to do this, bearing in mind iv not done it before. If possible i dont wanna take the whole engine out, but i think this williams track comes on the subframe with all the bits.

Thanks for any advice

then just drop the subframe and do it all on the floor. Save you MUCHO time although it does sound more daunting, dun worry about it mate.
