fuel gauge problem

last week i had half a tank, i stalled and then it said i had a full tank. i turned my engine off and it said i got half a tank when the key wasnt in? my trip said i got 80 miles n it said i got half a tank lol . any ideas?

I stalled when going over a bump once, and my petrol light came on even though
it was on two nuggets.

ok just came back from lunch, turned engine on and my petrol gauge is now facing 12 o clock, ( past full tank ) turned ignition off turned it back on its now facing 60 mph? wtf?

I dont no, but is it possible for the sensor to fall off (maybe into fuel) therefore giving
full tank reading?

I would personally take it to a garage.

First thing i would check is the fuel tank sender unit in the tank. Second would be the UCH control unit which is responsible for controlling the internal electrics of the vehicle and third the inst panel.

Buy a haynes and have a read or else go to a garage.
