Fuel hose split

Driving to work today I could smell petrol. When I stopped I checked under the bonnet and found petrol spraying from a crack at the end of a hose coming from the injector rail!!!

Ive now trimmed the end off the hose and put it back on but I was wondering if this was safe or really I should replace the whole hose.

Can anyone tell me if this is a big job or if theyve had something similar happen?

i think this is fairly common with 16vs, i know nick and ben h have both had such trouble recently,

cant be any more help im afraid

Id just leave it. As long as the thing isnt leaking anywhere else youre ok, the weak spot is always gonna be where it connects to the rail. Its a nightmare to get the fuel pipes out from the belt side of the engine anyway.

Ok thanks guys. The only problem is that now Ive cut some off the end there is less pipe to reach the rail so the angle is tighter so I guess it might be likely to split again at that point in the future (if that makes sense)

Oh well, at least it didnt blow up!!

i think your right, but you need to consider it took 8-10 years for it to break once, so maybe this time it will last 3-4 years,

Id leave it, and use it as an excuse to get a fire extinquiser fitted in car,

The only problem I had was with a fuel line going to my facet power boost valve. Came loose, but then it may have been left loose as Ive had the engine taken out about four times in the last 6 months.

one of my fuel lines has broken and im in the process of changing them

Bloody Renault £57 each and they were suppost to arrive today. but just like everything else renault they ordered them as stock items, not going to arrive till Tuesday, well pissed off.

Done a full service and taken the old lines off already. was suppost to be going to santa pod tommorow

My fuel hose split (one from the fuel filter) I was quoted £87+VAT from Renault. A mechanic mate of mine cut out the section that was split and replaced it with a suitably bent piece of stainless steel pipe!!
