Fuel pump not kickin in

  www.renparts.co.uk
Having a problem starting a ph1 172 ive just bought in.

immobilizer light goes out etc... and the car turns over... just doesn't want to fire.

ive took the back seats out and the cover off the pump lid. And when you turn the key into position 2 it doesn't prime. Now the car is lightly flood damaged so im guessing water has got in the relay or something. its been stood a few months, what should i be checking? where is the fuel pump relay, first thing was to swap one over from another car to check...
thanks for any replies

Might be an obvious thing to say, but have you checked the inertia switch under the bonnet? Mine did this and i spent all day looking at it trying to work it out and it was just that stupid switch

Do you know which relay it is. Unless i'm retarded. So there no relays relevant to the fuel pump under the passenger side of the dash? Water has got to the top of the pump. Ive got another pump in the car im breaking. How can i go about swapping them over?

Could be your TDC sensor? It's normal for the fuel pump not to prime on the first turn to "ON" (I discovered that when helping a friend fault find his hard to start problem, he thought that was the issue but my 182 did the same thing and starts fine.)

Well i unhooked the fuel pipe on top of the pump, they turned the ignition and nothing came out so im guessing there is a good reason. The water didn't get as high as the fusebox. Where is the TDC sensor located, as ive got a spare

do you get fuel out of it when its cranking? you need to check what you do and dont have to be in with a chance of finding the problem. first things first start with obvious check all the fuses-even if it dosn't seem feesable you'd be surprised how many times even problems that seem most complex come down to a fuse. first of as its what you suspect take a fuel line off and crank it see if you get fuel. if not then see if you get feed to the pump. if you do you need to see if you get 1 a spark and 2 inector pulse which you can check with either a test light or put a screwdriver on the injecter under cranking and put your ear to it.
tdc sensor is located on top of the gearbox.
