fuel pump problem

well i changed my fuel pump but when i press the button on the steering wheel to see how much fuel i have left (the thing that shows your mpg and how much miles youve done) it shows up as this _ _ _ _ _ and just flashes it used to work before i changed my fuel pump how do i get it to work please

Just a guess have you tried to reset it by disconnecting the battery for say 30 mins ?

could work but im no expert its just i read it over and over again how people clear faults or problems with the simple trick mentioned

It should be 4 lines ---- ...if there is no letters displayed its good.
Dont know why its just like that though.
