Fuming With Renault - Again!!

Right, for anyone who was following the threads about how much trouble I was having getting Renault to fix the ecu bracket - I finally convinced them to do it under warranty.

The car was booked in for this morning, so I get there, they ponce around for ages because their system didn't recognise my reg (although it did the other day!!) Then they tell me that the part has not come in yet!!!

Couldn't they have called me to let me know this, I've now wasted my time taking my car to renault, and getting the morning off work. I said to them, I'm not going to keep messing around coming back and forth, this is already a joke, the amount of hassle I've had with it!

Now I'm having one of their drivers come get it today (so they say) to take it back to renault and fix it then bring it back to me. Which I'm not at all happy about, I don't really want one of their people ragging my car about and treating it like s**t!!

When mine went in for ecu housing they orderd wrong one also. Speak to the manager and Renault UK.

It's not that they've even ordered the wrong part (yet!) It's not been ordered at all!!! But I will get back on to the customer service/service manager of all the sites, who was the one who agreed to do it. She wasn't about today, but I will complain - but not until after it's been done! Don't really want someone driving my car after I've just moaned at them!

woah there... stop and think... you're about to hand your car keys over to someone who has no love or care over your car what so ever.

personally i would rather have a broken ECU bracket than risk my car getting smashed by renault staff. From all the ECU brackets ive seen that are broken, it seems like a quick 5 minute bit of DIY would fix it.

Yeah I know, I don't want to at all, I'm not sure what to do though! The noise it makes drives me mad, so I want it sorted, and going to another dealers would mean wasting a days holiday at work to get there! But I don't want them driving it! I've took a note of the miles, and I know my car is immaculate, so I'd know if they damaged it but still...

fix it yourself.... all it needs is a large washer behind the existing bolt. you could even file it down and paint it black to match! thats what i would be doing.

if you let them drive it, get a post it note and write the current mileage and mpg on it. then stick it to the dashboard for them to see so that they know you wont be fucked about! This is what i did when my car was under warranty and needed to see Renault.

Sorry to hear of your troubles Deb. I have had my fair share (see my thread about it from a few months back!).
I would never trust one of them to drive my car again after I saw 2 mechanics out in mine - why they needed 2 in the car I do not know....

Well, too late now, I was just about to call them to say don't bother when someone turned up! He seems ok though, quite an oldish guy, and I watched it being driven away, I can see quite a way off where I work, and he was driving it pretty slow from what I can see. But I know the milage and reset the trip computer, so fingers crossed!

i can understand your disapointment with dealers as i work for one myself...! and i agree with what someone said about its not their car if it was they would take more care. i would offer to take it to our dealership personally and repair it for you but you are quite far away. if you ever need my help and cliosport can not help then you are welcome to mail me for advice.

When renault have collected my car it has been an oldish guy too so touch wood your car should be driven gently. I think some garages employ semi retired people for collecting etc. Hope you get it sorted Deb.

Leeshez - It rattles, I can hear it quite badly when the car is still at lights, like a vibrating rattle.

Mine went for a service at renault and when i got it back there was 2 sets of foot prints on the front mats. Like a couple of people had been out for a drive or flog it.

Ah. I use kidlington, but touch wood havnt had any problems with them. I been using them for about 4yrs now.

They ordered the wrong part and it doesnt fit! So they're going to order it in and fix it next week, plus they're giving me £20 for petrol for all the running around for no reason!

Some dealers are good some are bad. I think I've been lucky lol. I've never had a problem with any dealer I used.

I'm surprised by that tbh, my dad takes his 172 to them & he's never had a problem with them at all, he rates them quite highly.

Whatever you do - DON'T take it to Toomeys in Basildon (the dealers with the others ones round it on one big estate) they are utterly useless !!!

This is the first time I've had a problem with them, but then I've not had to deal with them alot.

I've also heard bad things about Toomeys Basildon, so I wouldn't ever go there.

I'm so glad I didn't buy a new car hassle free since I bought it *touches wood*. Unlucky Deb, i hope that you get it all sorted. Oh and about having 2 mechanics in you're car, dont worry about it. In my brief 2 weeks as an apprentice they take out other mechanics to have a 2nd set of ears on a road test, or they take an apprentice to point out noises that shouldn't be there.
