funny starting?

I have just put a deposit down on a 172 cup and will be picking it up tomoz morning and the only problem it seems to have is starting it straight up.

When you put the key in the ignition a red light stays on on the dash between the stop and service light, and wont start untill you turn the ignition back off and then on again then it starts fine??

Any ideas please

Immobiliser issue, least that's what the red lights for.

negotiate (sp?) a discount for the cost of a new key (£150). Chances are thats the problem. The red light staying on means that the immobiliser in the car has not read the code from the key properly.

in mine, the chip inside the key is fooked. To make it turn off the immobiliser, when i turn the key i have to apply slight pressure to the button on the key (without actually activating the locking), when turning on the igintion.

hope that makes sense worth a try until you can get a new one sorted.
