Gap on suspension mounts

  Black 182 + Recaros

On my 172 mk2, looking at the front suspension mounts under the bonnet, there is a small gap of about 1cm between the rubber mounts and the bodywork.

Firstly should this gap exist ?

Secondly, when I turn the wheels to the left, the right mount tilts slightly, and when I turn the wheels to the right the left mount tilts.

I hope this make some sense. Can anyone confirm similar behaviour.

Thanks.

Yup....

The gaps do vary from next to nothing, to sometimes 2cm on some cars. See if they can tighten up a tad, but if they arent knocking dont worry.

They tilt when you turn as its a Macphereson setup and castor is introduced by tilting the strut.....its also why you get positive camber change on the inside wheel when you turn.

Thanks. Id never seen this before. Almost looks like theyve come loose. Very unlikely I know.
