Gas bonnet struts?

Are they available for the Clio? I think they would look pretty cool and would make working under the bonnet much easier.

Yeah, See what you mean - the kind of thing that generally decent cars have ;-)

You could realistically convert the Clio to have gas struts. I guess you would have to find a good mounting point on the bonnet and in the engine bay. Then work out the amount of force the strut or struts would need to hold the bonnet up and allow it to be closed.

Hmmmmmmm I wonder ;)

That is exactly what I was thinking.
So if there are no off the shelf kits available I may need to look at an equivalent size motor. I know they are available for Corsas.
Hmmmm.

yeah, my 3 series had this, and I really miss it on the 172. But they weigh more than a length of metal don't they - could keep going and going with improvements till the clio weighs as much as a bimmer - who wants that though?

i've thought about this, though I may be wrong. On Vauxhalls, the base of the strut is attached to the wing on the vertical edge. I presume a Clio setup hasn't been manufactured as the wings are plastic and would not provide enough strength to support the bonnet.
Please correct me if anyone thinks I am wrong.
