Gay valver!

All in a hard days work. Went to Amirs this morning and we used my engine crane to lift the engine out of his car (bye bye storm trooper). We then took the engine back to mine where we changed the clutch and gearbox.

Then we put it into the tungy and started connecting everything up. By 1:30 I had to shoot off to play rugby so I left Amir connecting the engine up. I came back about 3:30 and he hadn't been able to get it started. Car cranked, Getting a spark, fuel pump primes and getting fuel at the rail. This engine was running yesterday in his car!! :mad: Any ideas fellas?

Engine needs 3 things to work

- Compression
- Spark
- Fuel

Its going to be one of those :p

Sure one of the sensors hasnt been left unconected?

Cheers guys. Pretty sure we connected all the sensors and earths up. It's too dark now. Gonna have another check tomorrow. Say if we eliminated the engine and engine loom and dashboard loom out of the equation. What else could possibly stop it from firign other than the fuel pump?

Did you ever get the engine running in the 16v?

No mate. SO we ripped it out in the end and stuck Amir's engine in it today but no success :( Rather odd we think as we proved that the loom from the dash would start Amir's engine when it was in his car.

Take the coil apart from the amplifier, clean the contacts and try again.
Or use the coil from the white one.

We tried the coil on my car when the engien was still in and it fired. So should be okay. Going to check tomorrow though anyway. Fuel pump relay is fine. Took the fuel line off the injector rail and spratyed petrol everywhere :rasp:

Not really the solution to be honest! It really bugs me when people but stupid answers like that! We posted on here to try and get some help!

Anyway enough winging!
Need to get this sorted, the engine was running fine as of friday evening as i drove the white one home engine came out didnt fire when in the Tungston. Very strange,
Its bound to be something ridiculously minor, but there always the hardest things to spot!
So all help is appreciated!

So you've checked the lines are on the right way...

Maybe the fuel filter is blocked, thus not enough fuel pressure to run? pull the rail off and injectors and point them in the air then crank, see if the injectors are ALL firing.

if theres fuel.and a spark.....theres no reason it wont run.


even if only 2 or 3 injectors are workin, will still fire on these

u havent pulled the plug leads off n put em back in wrong order or owt have u?

All the injectors are working!!!!!!! Like i said the engine was running friday, engine came out, went in another car, not working now. As for the leads its worth checking, thanks. Fuel filter, not sure that would cause it not to run at all, We pulled the fuel lines off and there is plenty of fuel comming through!

there may be plenty of fuel, but not enough pressure...

try putting your fuel pump unit into it.


even so.it would fire on what fuel there was in the bores after the fuels bin pumped thru....

best way to find that out is get some easy start or summat n fire it down the throttle body.if it runs then....not enuff fuel.

I went to see this track williams at the weekend, it had a similar problem, fuel pump initially wasn't priming, checked just about everything, and his mate turned up with a standard Ecu and plugged that one in to replace the modded unit, and it fired straight up, could it be anything to do with the ecu??

Where can i get this from? Halfords? Maybe i'll jsut throw some fuel down the inlet!:S

Injectors need fuel pressure to fire. if there isnt enough pressure, they wont fire, so no fuel would get into the bores to be fired.

lol...i had a can empty itself in the back of the van under a bit of heavy cornering....pressed the top n emptied it..stank for ages...was high as fuk for a while...til the headache kicked in lol.

Ok, ive not taken the injectors out, i have just pulled the fuel line off and yes fuel came out when first priming and when the started was turning. So what your saying is if there isnt enough pressure generated by the pump, the injectors wont even fire?
 
try putting your fuel pump unit in it, see if that has an affect. and change/bypass the fuel filter.

pull the injectors and rail out the head so you can see if they are firing.

Fuel lines on the wrong way round :p. The fuel feed line is shorter than the return and have always been the wrong way round so we never changed them. Swapped them over by stretching the return pipe over the cam cover to the right joint on the rail and wallah! she fires.
