Gaz golds rear pre load/height

Will too much pre load make lower rebound settings all crashy or are they like that anyway? It seems like the first 10 clicks from soft up are useless. They are 300lb springs and are doing well on the road so far, just about to put the rear seats back in so that should help a bit, would at least like to soften them up sometimes though

Setting coilover height lower INCREASES rebound travel, reduces bump travel, reduces spring aid/bumpstop gap and increases the internal gas pressure which in turn increases the total spring rate of the whole unit.

So it does several things that reduce compliance/control in the bump direction, but not rebound.

Raise it up a bit if it’s silly low, give the suspension some travel to do it’s work in.

Thanks for the info. But they are not that low, probably the same as the eibach springs in before. I dont actually know how to adjust the height, its combined with preload but even if the springs are really loose it doesnt really lower it

Undo the lower adjuster (locking ring). Then wind the upper ring up/down as much as you want. It will go down, just takes a while (1:1 ish installation ratio on the rear, and the rear corner weight on a clio is something like 140kg so you don’t get much pre-compression even on “softer” springs)

Have you tried obvious stuff like making sure there’s no free play in topmounts?

Thanks mate, Ill see how much it can be loosened. Ill have a check with the topmounts but pretty sure they are seated correctly

Where are the helper springs that locate the springs at full drop?

They didnt come with any, I was under the impression they would. I went direct with gaz not through kam btw and was 275 all in all

I`d query that with them, that`s why your adjustment rings are high.
Kam supply them with the 300 lb springs, the same as yours and the helpers.
