Warren, do NOT for one minute think i'm suggesting anything. My experience runs a little over zero.

I was just trying to widen the boys outlook!

I have heard GAZ are shoite, out of them i would choose V-Maxx as they seem to get a good review on here.

Greets,

I also plan to get coil overs and was going to get the VMAXX ones seeing as people seem to rate them. What does spending the extra on H&R's etc give you? Better ride, handeling?

Will I notice the difference seeing as I only use it on the road?

It also says on Ktec:

172/182 V-MAXX COIL OVER KIT
All Clio 172 & 182 Models Except 182 Cup.

Mines a 182 with Cup packs, does this mean I can't use those??

why is it every one say gaz are shite, ive had mine over 4 months now with no problems once i had a play with the setting the ride is very good not harsh at all

I think for the money they shouldnt be snuffed at, they go nice and low which is also a bonus

Rather FK's anyday.

If slammage wasnt an issue, some replacement/uprated dampers and some Prolines is the best setup for fast road imo.

The cars are sold with handling as a strength, so why comprimise?

Its like putting ling lang tyres on it, you wouldnt. Well, i wouldnt.

mine have been fine and from what ive read i just think you must have had a bad set or they have changed there design as mine have been fine and for the money i dont think you can go wrong

Mine handles better than the stock setup and thats also on lesser tyres

Wonder why Renault bothered with cup suspension and bespoke tyres eh?

I often wonder if some people even know what a welsh B road is when it comes to suspension set ups on here.

so whats the verdict? lol nobody got any good reviews on the weitech gt they are meant to be an amazing set for the price! but i got no idea on suspension thats why im asking lol might just stick with the V-MAXX

any one is more than welcome to come out in mine on gaz as i think they are fine on any roads. i live in a rural area and the roads are crap but my cars fine.

i would deff buy gaz again thats my opinion.

decent shock/spring combo > cheap coils. If you can't stretch to a decent kit, IMO don't bother. Gaz I had were s**t, I wouldn't fit them if I was given a set let alone part with my hard earned cash for any. As for Weitech, V - Maxx I can't pass comment as I've never driven them although I doubt if they're Gaz money they will be much cop either.

I remember the dark days when I was one of the owners first 5 sets of Gaz coilovers for a cup packed 182 before you could get any other coils. I remember the PM's back and forth between the other lads on here about our findings and a conversation on the phone with Ben R which resulted in him pissing himself while I gave him a running commentary on the "handling" and "ride" I was "enjoying"

Fred and one of the GDi boys were surprised by the ride/handling on the Vmaxx kits. Only budget kit I'd consider.

agreed, once again people hav heard gaz are s**te, most probly by someone whos never even had them?? nothing wrong at all

I've had, Gaz, H&R's (twice once on my mk2 172, once on my cup packed 182) and apex. I've driven RS models fitted with FK's, Eibachs and eibachs + Koni's. I still say the Gaz were inferior to the lot possibly even a set of £90 apex springs on OE dampers. Horrible for fast road use not matter how much fiddling you do with them IMO, I played about with them, a colleague who sets up race cars had a play, local track/hillclimb specialist had a fiddle with them and all of us came to the conclusion they're rubbish, lol.

You not read mine and Turkish comments? We both had them, both experienced others which are vastly superior. When i said mine lasted a month, its becuase i removed them, they ruined my Cup. Some of you guys are deluded if you think a set of GAZ coilovers and cheap tyres make the car handle better than the standard set up...... Before the GAZ set up i had i ran prolines and the ride was far more complient.

if you notice how long the people commenting on the subject have been on here you'd realise they've been there done that and since moved on from cheap t-shirts

I don't know any of the professionals (Yoz, Fred, GDi etc) that would recommend GAZ. They have a poor reputation on here for a reason!

  172 mk2 ph2
the price of all the coilovers are all the same tbh and V-MAXX are getting a good reputation everywhere now! im either going to go for GAZ or V-MAXX as weitech nobody has really tried.
i will be ordering them tomorrow with a friend who works for www.merseyspeed.co.uk (hopefully get a little disount lol) i think ill go for the V-MAXX as they seem better value for money

Dont the fronts wear on H+Rs though to give a knocking?

News to me?

On my Cup i must have put 50k on the H&R's, 182 about 30k, and 197 about 20k so far. No issues. Like with any coilover a clean down and free up of the collars is essential every few months to stop the seizing etc
