Hi guys and gals

Another Newbie here, got recommended here by a friend with a valver and it looks very sexy around here. I'm a hardcore Ford owner with an XR2i and an Si, but the winds of change are nigh. I'm fed up burning more oil than petrol so I think it's time i endulged in some French-ness :D

I've got a budget of £3k-3.5 and I love valvers - Is there anything that comes close than a valver on full throttle at 5k+ rpm  My friend had a real sh*tter for £700 and even that was giggle. Anyways, just a few boring run of the mill newbie questions. I've had a browse around and it seems I'm looking for FSH, rust on the rear arches, dodgy gearboxes, I've also heard about wiring faults with Renaults and told to steer clear, and he owns a Megane! haha. What else am I looking for when I go to look at one? Usual car things obviously, but anything specifically wrong with Clios like the infamous Mk3 Fiesta fuel cap!

What differences ae there between a Phase 1 and 2, aside from facelift front, wheels and interior? How many came with leather and ABS?

After a fair few sh*tty years with cars, I'm looking at getting something seriously good for my money so I'm pushing the boat out a bit. As much as I'd like a Phase 1 172, it aint gonna happen, so the valver is the next best thing and hopefully for this sort of cash, I'll get something to last.

My babysitter used to be Mrs Hill Power, they live down the road, so I doubt I'll be in any trouble there :approve:

Thanks a lot, sorry for any FAQs and repeat questions I know what its like with newbies popping up.

check the for sale section was a nice hybrid valver for sale in their. The kind of money you've got you'll be hard pushed to spend on a valver unless you buy a hybrid, a mint valver is about £1500-£2000 iirc

Oh my, is that you Scott?!? If you could 'find' an extra grand to 1.5k from somewhere, then you'd be into Phase1 172 territory....

As for your budget mate, go Williams... ;)

Another FT'er breaks away from the flock!

Ha, yeah it's me Scott. I can't really just find another £1500 really, you know us student bums. However, I have realised I'm looking at the top bracket of 16v's really, and I could have a Williams for my budget and it seems its obviously the finer car of the two. Also the fact that it might lose less value is attractive :)

I'll keep my eyes out, mmm...150bhp

Think a mint valver is more than that tbh

Looking nearer £2,000 - £3,000
