Gear/clutch prob

Hi hoping someone on here can help me out.

Got a probwith my car at the moment and not sure what it is.

I went to change down gear yesterday and it wouldnt go into 2nd. So i tried puting it back to 3rd but wouldnt go in there either. I couldnt get it in any gear. Cltch wasnt limp or soft. I managed to get it in 4th pulled in a layby. I then tried every gear and couldnt get it in any at all. Then pushing against 4th there was a whinging sound, not too loud but still not sounding good. After a min or so i could then get it in every gear just sitting there. Put it in 3rd and drove it home without changing.
Its now just sitting there. I can get all gears with car running or without it running but dont wanna chance using it again.

Anyone got any ideas what this could be?

You would think, wouldnt you!!??

And, no wasnt driving it hard, and shouldnt have been too hot. Car had been running for 10mins tops, driving for about 5mins of that.

To see if there is oil present or if there is crap in it?

Cant see lack of oil stopping it go into gear? Its not normaly a prob changing gears.

lack of oil would stop it going into gears...if it goes into gears when your not moving, then it sounds like its on the driveshaft side of the gearbox, no the engine side. if theres not enougth oil, the gearbox heats up via friction nd then makes a whining noise, it also become very hard to put into gears.`

^^^ i think all of them "clunk", they are all shite box's tbh. best thing to do is go to garage, ask for "red manual gearbox oil", its 1 grade up from ATF and reduce's transmission loss and helps gear change.

Oh arse - I also find my clutch is real snatchy when cold...with a high bite point all the time, another Renault 'feature'?

Think its some fancy self-adjusting cable setup so it can't be fiddled with.

If it turns out it is simply the clutch, I'll be on to Renault customer services demanding they pay half. My old Cav did a cheeky 90k miles on the original clutch, and that was with R "clutch slipper" Mccardal driving it ;)

18k+ and my clutch is fine thank you very much ;) ... chicken noise from gearbox though. lol

Got a garage to look at my car, he drove it and nothing went wrong.

Any ideas on what to do now?

How do i check the gearbox oil?
