Gearbox crunch and clutch drag/engagement issues

Car  Clio RS 200
Hi everyone,
Having some problems with my new (to me) 200 RS.

Test drove the car and didn’t feel any problems, slight crunch on 3rd as advertised so factored in the price and bought it. Got to the end of the motorway and pushed the clutch in, couldn’t select a gear. Had to pull over, restart the engine and it was all good, thought I hadn’t pushed the clutch in enough and it was my fault.

Been driving around the last few weeks and the clutch does feel off, it’s sometimes extremely hard to get into any gear and won’t go down gears well at all unless rev matching or pumping the clutch. If I push the clutch down hard or pump it it’ll select gears, and I’m now getting crunches in 3rd and 4th.

Had it badly yesterday where even if I pushed down the clutch I couldn’t get it out of gear and it was like the gear was still engaged, managed to select 1st but had to come to a stop at a light and the car stalled. Had to pump clutch to get it going and now feels like I have to pump the clutch every time if I don’t use it for a minute or so. If I pump the clutch before selecting 3rd and 4th it goes in way smoother with no crunch.

This points me to a dragging clutch, which would be slave cylinder most likely, but it was supposedly replaced with clutch and master 3k miles ago by previous owner.

I would find it hard to believe that the slave has already gone, could it be air in the system and needs a bleed? Or is it worth getting the box out and refurbed with new components seeming as I’ve already got a crunch which seems to be getting worse.

I’m in the Bristol UK area so if anyone can help me around there, or knows anyone, that would be great! Thanks everyone.
