Gearbox in 2006 Clio Sport 192

  ford
Hi All.
I am thinking of purchasing a Renault Clio Sport 197. It has only done 23000 miles on a 2006 plate and had one owner from new. I used to have a clio sport 172 and loved it, wish I hadn't sold it now!.
Has anyone had/got a 197 2006/2007 plate, as I hear they suffer with gearbox problems?.
I would love to get another Clio, but don't want to have to pay out in the next few months/years to have a new gearbox fitted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I had an 07 plate 197 for around 8-9 months, then sold it for the 172 cup I have now.

I had no issues at all with it, but then I bought it as a 26,000 miler, full Renault service history an a quite old one lady owner ha!

The lad who bought it off me though actually bought it because he said the gear box has felt the best of any he's driven, with me not driving any other I presume you can get some right bad eggs!

Like all cars, ensure its been very well looked after then it should be ok. Personally I wouldn't buy another though!

Hi Saul. I regret selling my little Clio 172 now, miss it lots. I have considered purchasing another one, but they are very high mileage now. Which is why I am considering a 197. I think I may go and take a look and test drive it and see how the gearbox feels. I never had any problems with my Clio 172 gearbox, why do they have to mess about with things!.

Have you thought about a great condition 182? They can be had for not a lot these days!

Yes I had thought about one of those. Will keep my eyes peeled for a good one to come up. Thank you.
