best/cheap way to clean out my gearbox?without stripping.
one driveshaft knuckle has been stripped into my box with my calculations i have 23 needle bearings in my box somewhere,
where about in the box will these be located ?(passengers shaft stripped)
could i flush the box with the gearbox oil a few times to try mvoe them/get them out,
would these needle bearings cause much effect on my box if left in or is how long the gearbox lasts just pot-luck?

could i cause more damage than just my gearbox going,by runing it with fresh oil flushed threw a few times with my circlip welded into place, new pass side driveshaft, i have a new clutch on my car just now also.

i really dont want to/cant afford to get my box taken out and stripped/replaced.

i could be getting this car running and mot'd in april then selling it unless im happy with it,

any help ANY1?

flush it with some cheap paraffin or something, you need one of those telescopic magnets that slide down to pen size.

a aprentice i worked with did this to me once before i had to fish all the needle rollers out with a telescopic magnet they all sit in the bottom so you should be ok long as you havn't run it

well nah i drove like 2 miles home wen i started having trouble with my car when diff circlip popped,
i think its possibly just the circlip i had issues with,i couldnt steer over half turn so maybe been driveshaft going at the same time as its only been one knuckle thats went and 23ish bearings,
wheres best to fish them out from?
where the shaft goes in and just straight down or would be like 3 inches inward the box threw the wee hole at the end of the three knuckles?
cheers for the info, much appreacited, saves alot of hassle if i can flush it with oil then parifin then give it sum fresh good oil wen the shaft goes in.
23 quid a 5 litres thou so could use the spare litre to kinda flush out the remainder of parifin before i re-shaft it,yeah?

cheers again

bump
just spent a hour or two flushing and magnetising my box, managed to get a few full bearings and lots of small bits even flushing my oil/parafin threw its like im gold mining with the amount of little bits of silver im finding,
when you said an apprentise done that to you before, can you shear shaft knuckles when taking the shaft out?i think thats maybe what ive done a bit as im no machanic im just trying to get my car stripped,il have to be super carefull when taking my shaft outa my crashed clio incase i do damage to that one.
ive been magneting from the where my passenger shaft goes in,basically everwhere i can reach from there up/down/side/front of box.
my circlip which i thought was the problem to start with is slightly kinked and has sheared where it sits into the box,but one of my shaft knuckles were f*cked either before i took it out or as i was removing it,

few more flushes and magneting, circlip mig'd into place, shaft in,fresh oil litre in and flushed then the 3.5 in and hope to hell thats my car done.

any imput anyone?
cheers anyway.
