Gearbox Problems

Help and advice needed here ppl.............
Recently had a new clutch fitted and since have had the car back it has been making a 'squeeling' sound when in 5th gear. Last week it started doing it in 4th aswell. Then I was driving down the bypass and the car completly kicked out of gear and I couldn't get it back in again. Had to get the car towed by breakdown to the garage that did the work. They looked at it and tell me that the gear linkage is damaged and needs recplacing but they can't get this from renault or any of the main dealers as it is a discontinued part with the age of the car. Also they say that the gearbox will need to be taken out again and repaired as it won't go into 5th gear at all anymore. They have quoted me £600+ for this and I don't have that sort of cash and feel they are ripping me off anyway.
Please help or advise anyone :-(

Mate try clio spares for the gear linkage replacement, I honestly can't see it being different to any other clio but ask josh when you phone

As for you gear selection issues and whining, it could be that they spilt some of the gearbox oil whilst doing the clutch change and as such it does'nt have enough lube also if the gear linkeage isn't aligned correctly it will give you grief selecting the gears (mostly fifth and reverse).

If the box has gone, again speak to cliospares as they've been spot on with me in the past.
