Gearlever skirt come loose

Anyone else ever had a trim problem of the skirt around the gearlever coming loose? It appears that the two small plastic tabs on it have both sheared off. Not quite sure how best to secure it as a blob of araldite applied last night pinged straight off this morning, first time I put it into gear!!

New gear stick gater the only real option.

Not to much from Renault £15 or so.

I'd recon your dog bone mounts on the way out though hence why the engine shakes arounf when you let off the throtle new mounts arn't much dead easy to fit.

I had the same problem. The lug on the edge nearest to the handbrake had sheared off. I drilled a small hole where the lug used to be and screwed a self tapper through from the inside out. Et voila, a new lug.

yes ive had the same problem on my 182. i tried to wedge it with bits of material but popped out straight away. anyway ive remedid it now by pushing the end nearest the handbrake down fractionally further than it is meant to go. you carnt really tell the difference and it hasnt come loose since.

when i had the ktec short shifter fitted this happened to me also!
i got fed up with it so much in the end i just used a plastic 2 plastic glu!
still holding strong!

a very common problem tbh ...... many options , buy a new one , repair , i've bought a gear gaiter surround which is another option .

Definitive fix

If anyone's interested the permanent solution is as follows:

Remove skirt, by clipping cable tie.
Drill small hole through the plastic bracket connected on the skirt nearest the handbrake.
Screw through a small self tapping screw carefully from the inside without cracking the bracket so that the sharp end protrudes outwards.
Reconnect skirt with new cable tie.
Reengage bracket by pushing in the near (screw) side first, then pushing and clipping in the far side.

I just put it back in place and wedged a screw to hold it in place between the gaitor and the plastic

Was amazed when I got one of these from Reno. the forst time Ive ever been shocked at how cheap something was. Think I paid 3.30 ish. Takes 30 seconds to fit.

I was going to buy a new one but I had a go with a drill and a few screws first and managed to fix it.
