Geometry

  182 Trophy
I've got the car booked in at a local place with a hawk-eye system, and I'm curious what kind of results people have had with different geometry settings?

I imagine the standard settings are done with saving the planet (and your tyres) in mind - I'm after something a little more focussed.

What is adjustable, I'm guessing I'll need some camber bolts for the front and shims for the rear? Should I be waiting to see the results of the initial read out before buying shims?

People like to run -1.5 for the front wheels as its supposed to be good for road use, look good, and at the same time be a good compromise between handling and wear. Im not certain what the other settings should be, some people like a slight inward toe and others like outward. I opeted for a standard clio 197 setup with -1.5 deg camber on my front wheels and that was on my GT - felt pretty good before i screwed it up.

Im guessing (Dont quote me on this - I dont own a 182) camber wont be adjustable on the standard shocks so youll need to get camber bolts. The H&R triple C bolts, and im sure others aswell, will most likely fit your macpherson struts so I cant see why you couldny buy a set and instal them yourself.

Youll need shims for the rears.

i run 2.5- camber on the fronts, and is a marked improvement over standard, and also am runnign 3minute shims at the rear.

Handles lovely, and no adverse wear thus far on the road

Any suggestions on the cheapest place for Camber bolts? Preferably someone that'll do next day delivery? What about rear shims? I assume this is fixed, and there is no fine adjustment beyond the shims?

I'd imagine toe out would suit my needs better, as I'm led to believe that this will result in better turn-in.

Is caster adjustable on these? Has anyone successfully managed to keep their car in a straight line easier on bumpy roads by perhaps adding some positive caster?
