Getting courtesy car after accident

Ok so the g/f got hit in her car yesterday.

2 questions

1) Insurance saying she can't have a courtesy car, she isn't entitled to one?!? Surely the cost will be covered by the t**t of a driver that hit her? Can we get a hire car and then claim of him?!?

2) 2002 '52' Clio extreme, 69k, good condition. Needs wing, bumper, grill, light, foglight, bumper bracket, inner arch, small ding in bonnet, and passenger seat airbag went off. Write off?

Depends on her insurance policy, i know on mine i had to add it as an option. If the other guy is insured then, well i would anyway, hire a car and claim costs off him, even if you have to take him to small claims court to get it settled.
From what you have said most of the damage is just mostly cosmetic, depending on how much the insurer assessor reckons its going to cost as a % of the cars value will determine if a write off or not, but if you know someone and can get the parts from a breakers yard i would image the costs would be a lot less- but for this you would need the cash.

As an assessor mate I think they will fix it if you want it fixed and write it off if you don't want it fixed. It is as simple sometimes.

The main bit is, is it definitley the other persons fault? If it is call helphire they will give you a car and claim it back off the 3rd party.

What insurance company mate?

There were 3 cars involved, a car overtaking caused the accident, and admitted fault to police.

She wants it repaired. Apparently a big bodyshop has phoned my bro earlier and told him they are coming to get the car today.

It's direct line. She may be able to have one but pay 20% extra on her excess (which I presume she'll get back anyway) but haven't really got much out of her as she's at work atm.

Will give help hire a call later when I've spoken to her.

She wont have to pay any excess if the accident wasn't her fault so why are they saying 20% extra on it for a courtesy car?

I bet that £10 extra on the policy for guaranteed car hire looks like it would have been worth it now ;)

Oh I thought that if it weren't your fault you paid excess and got it back?!? Never claimed so don't know. Maybe she meant her excess will go up 20% next year? Hmmm, only had a text so not sure as yet.

Seems help hire will sort it anyway.

i think the car will must likly be writen off tbh

they take the prices from new parts and if you had them all up that quite a list

Whether it's a write off isn't the point you still want a c/c in the mean time?

If it wasnt her fault then her excess of premium wont go up at all next year!! She wont have nothing to pay if it isnt her fault! I got hit up the rear and didnt pay anything! Not even my excess to have it recovered! Courtsey car will all depend on the policy! Thought directline would of as standard though?

If she's not at fault, helphire will sort everything out with no cost to her as they'll recover it from the 3rd party

I'd recommend them to anyone after the way they helped me out ;)

another one is drive assist, i had an accident in my old L plate astra, not my fault, they deliered a brand new mondeo titanium to me the day after i phoned, had it around 3 months while the claim was being sorted and didnt cost me a penny! they also contacted me asking if i was injured, i ended up claiming £1500 through them for personal injuries!

As said - non fault, hire car charged to the fault insured's policy. Plenty of ambulance chaser companies will organise them as mentioned.

Even fault, the bodyshop may provide a courtesy car - if the insurer's preferred bodyshop won't, the find a bodyshop that will! You don't have to use the garage that they prefer.
