getting rid of polish on trim

Whats the best way of getting rid of polish that gets onto the grey trim. My cars new and Ive polished it a few times now but ive got polish on the trim and its really difficult to get off, and it looks a bit sh*te! I tried back to blacking it but that goes all over the paintwork and looks crap.

i have this problem to like

goan try olive oil tomoz as i use to do it on me corsa as there arches go white dead quick and olive oil makes them go black and shines boss to

I find my Turtle Wax does the job - get it on the paint tho, and youll be annoyed.. it dont come off easily, and you can see it.. I have a nice 1cm strip of it on my paint all around my bumper strips - nice.

bit extensive...and must stink!

I use a tooth brush on the trim (especially the rough black trim around the fog lights, door mirrors, etc) to remove the residue and then use back to black. Thats the only way it works for me. Using the back to black stuff over the residue just seals it in I find.

Either Peanut Butter (smooth, not crunchy) - really!

or 3M Tar, Wax and Bug Remover / Meguairs #39 Heavy Duty Plastic Cleaner,

A lot of other products "hides" the stain, but then when the car has been washed a few times, back it comes.

AND use a wax that doesnt stain trim. S100 (yes I know, S100 again!) doesnt stain trim.

A damp cloth with a wee bit of cellulose thinners on it. Removes the stain. Then apply your trim shine stuff.

Autoglym bumper care, gets rid of the marks and makes the trim super black/shiney ;)
ditto, i was just out today completing stage 2 and 3 of the meguirs stuff.. and used some autoglym to take away "overspray" .. worked a treat.

i have always used 1/8 cricket bat oil (think its called linseed oil)

7/8 turpentine spirits

rub it on any affected areas and allow to try for a while, sometime need to use more than one coat to get it back to how it originally was

this is aparently used in the trade

mind you.....if its really tough stuff......................you could always use a butane torch & burn it off !!!

ill be doing that to BenR this weekend to get rid of his blonde hair !!!

If you treat your bumpers and bump strips with Back to Black (or similiar) before you use any wax/polish product, any residue you get on the black trim should then wipe off a lot easier with a damp cloth. Or, just use some masking tape on the black bits. Going to start doing this on my washer jets and the black plastic around the wing mirror base, they are a pain!

baby oil

i kid you not

i used to use it on my r5 campus bumpers, they were still black and glistening well after the rest of the car was coated in sh|te again

basically its oily properties mean it acts like a dirt retentive and nothing sticks to it (ie. dead flies)

best of all ----- ITS CHEAP :D

edde --- not a good idea to use linseed oil and turps - they are both very flammable products
