Getting used to this detailing malarky...

Today I detailed my friends DCi Clio.

To say it was a swirl bus is an understatement. It was the swirliest car I have ever seen in my life. The lady who owned it before him had it cleaned every week.... At her local foreign car wash :S

Havent got loads of pics... But here goes!

Pics of the shed when I got it:

Taped off ready to be polished. You can really see the swirls in this pic:

The finished article:

Im not totally happy with it as there still are some swirl marks left, but I didnt want to end up taking too much paint off or causing any damage to the car so I left it as it was.

:star:

Looks good. Quick tip in future to save you time and money (costs of tape); take the side bump strips off. They pop backwards and forwards and off. Much easier!

Oh and post up products used, as it's always good to chatter about product use with new detailers. Could help you in future details.

Ok products used:

- Washed using 2 bucket method and Duragloss #901, using i4d synthetic wash mitt
- Cleaned wheels using Bilberry Wheel Cleaner and Silverline Alloy Wheel Brush
- Clayed using i4d yellow clay bar (and Meguiars QD)
- Washed again using above method (but tried Tropi-Care TC-6 instead to see what that was like)
- Dryed using drying towel (cant remember which as I have quite a few now)
- Taped up using 3M tape
- Polished using G220
> Menzerna Power Finish and Mild Cutting Pad
> Menzerna Final Finish and Polishing Pad
- Waxed using Dodo Juice Banana Armour (I know thats not the best wax to use for that colour, but I wasnt buying any more wax as my mate was only paying me "mates rates")
- Put some AG Tyre Shine to finish off.

I think thats everything I did, maybe forgot 1 or 2 points...

Sounds pretty good buddy. Any glass cleaning/metal/plastics/rubbers etc?

One thing to mention, may well be a mis-type; Final Finish needs a finished pad. Not a polishing pad :)

Yea mis-type there mate

Didn't do anything with the glass, plastics etc as time was tight and he was just bothered about getting the paint back to how it should be.
