Glass scratches - removal?

I'm trying to spruce up my brother's car before he sells it. He has scratches on his rear windscreen though as if there was some dirt under the window scrapper when he has been deicing it. You can feel the scratches with your fingernail too!

Can anyone recommend a process or product to treat these marks?

You can polish them out with a kit but it will cause the glass to look deformed and odd.

Not really, isuppose you could get one of those windscreen chip repair kits for chips like autoglass do but i don't know how it would look on large areas or how much it would take to do it. May be a new rear windcreen if you want to spend that much.
