Glovebox lid removal?

Hi All,

ive had a search of the forums but cant seem to find any guides on how to remove a glovebox lid from a 172. ive seen complete Dash removals but just need to know how to replace the lid? anyone shed some light on it or point me to it?

Drill the rivets out underneath.

Why are you taking it off out of interest?

i bought a 172 last week and the lid was scratched (god knows how or why) but bought a new lid as stuff like that annoys the hell out of me so was just wondering how to change it over

Ah right, if you look along the bottom of the lid there is a row of rivets that need to be drilled out.

a little tip,
i used a long nosed pliers to hold the back of the rivets as i was drilling mine out, as i found them to just spin lol

Is there a way to re-attach the handle on the glovebox? Mate of mine opened it and pulled the handle off, nothing has snapped etc, but cant seem to get it back in place correctly??
