God Dammit! How unlucky can one person be!?

  Clio 172
Sounds like the experience I hgad with my first MKII Golf, cost me over £3000 in 18 months keeping it on the road. Was a real nail, my next MKII Golf lasted me for 9 years and never missed a beat. Sadly there are cars out there that are proper fubar and occasioanlly decent people by them and get tucked up. I hope the garage agree to pay for the repair after the oil cap fiasco, they seem to have helped loads so far would be a real shame for them to turn into a bunch of w*****s now.

Ouch, sounds like a painful few months.

To sum up though, you've basically bought a dog and hoped for the best, the worst has happened and you took it to someone who clearly hasn't got a scooby how to rebuild these engines. You'll probably go off and tell all your mates they're incredibly unreliable as is the way of personal experience, but the fact is they're extremely reliable cars, strong engines too. ALWAYS take it to a specialist

Yeah thanks, but please don't judge me without knowing me, I still don't have a bad word to say against renault sport, I'm very picky and I made sure to check my area for a garage that I would feel comfortable leaving my car with, the garage I took it to IS a renault specialist, if you read through the comments I've posted a link to there website, I also checked google for reviews of the place and found a few that rated it 5 stars. The stupidest thing I've done to date, is buy it with no service history, other cars can get away with it but I realize now that you can't do the same with an rs.

Wasn't judging fella, we all live and learn, would understand if you did think that after that fiasco. Just sounds like you've been taken on a bit of a ride in all honesty.

Regardless of the service from this company, 90% of the time if you pick up a dirt cheap 1*2 it'll cost you it's worth or maybe more putting it right :(

You're not wrong, it does sound a bit far fetched to all happen within such a short space of time, we'll see what the garage says this time. Sorry if I sounded snappy, I just didn't like the comment that I'd go off telling my mates Clio's are s**t cause my one has been s**t. I understand that no matter what car you get, you'll always get the odd one that has been treated poorly. I just jumped too quick into getting my first RS :(

Impulse buying FTL, all been there. Might be worth getting it to one of the specialists in the trader section to look for anything suspect

Why has this garage not covered the costs?sounds like everything was due to shoddy work imo. 12month guarantee on parts and labour is standard no?

Yeah, but the second time it went they said it wasn't there fault, the follower lifting up was a fault with the original engine, they should cover this though, if the head gasket has gone or the head as cracked, I paid for them to change the HG, so it should be under guarantee.

It sounds like they fucked your belts too though. Honestly don't be taken the piss out of mate. It's costing you a fortune :(
