Golf v 172 thread

Even with that BHP i sceptical whether a Golf ralle could beat one?...

Bear in mind that the G-lader engines can be easily tuned.

A fair battle then, though i would give the Cup the benefit of the doubt though as its lighter.

Nice cars those rallyes, if a little dated looking.

I was going to get a Rallye, they are rapid, stick a big pulley on the end of the super charger and bye bye most hot hatches... They are amazing!

It was a shame that VW dropped the ball with that car. With a bit of development work it would have been great. I think there was a special 16V G-lader version as well which was a very limited production.

Your quite right the special was a mental golf

it looked like a standard 16v but had a tiny blue badge on the grille

Just checked out the thread, one chap is comparing the 172 to an audi tt engined golf and how it killed a 172, well belive it as its owned by a mate of mine, its got a 3 stage boost and about 300bhp.

Not really a fair comparison is it.......

Lets strap a blower to a 172 and then see whos the Daddy !!!!!!!

honestly though, our cars are mainly standard and still pulling their own....bring on the mods !

those golfs are LHD import jobbies, theres a guy near me has one. They do look really nice in the metal. Dont have any info on rapidness of the standard one tho.
