  Flame Red 172!
Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes...Going to pick up my mk2 172 (in mars/flame red or whatever?) tonight and I absolutely cannot bloody wait!!!!

Got to drive about an hour to get it with my mate and then it's a nice long blast down a and b roads all the way home! Got my route all sorted...

I'll get some pics up tomorrow for ya'll, she's really is a beauty! :D

Only downside is that she's just coming up for her 48k service and is gonna need her cambelt changing too...sh*t. :(

Absolutley, know i'm gonna have to take it easy for a while to get used to it...anyway, she's WAY too pretty to stick in a ditch!

Knocked em down to 5k...1 lady owner, 46k, absolutley mint condition...with the added (albeit small) bonus of a fully integrated handsfree kit that will fit my phone!

Think I got a deal really...What do you think, did I get conned?! :S

Sounds pretty good to me, provided its in the condition you say!! As long as its been well maintained and all that.

What year is it??? :D

From a stealer or private? If it's a stealer tell them to do that!

It'll cost ya £5 to change your name ;)

  Flame Red 172!
NOOOOOOOOOOO!...£5?!?!

Bought private, 4 hours and counting until pick-up! :D

Will definitely be careful, read toooooo much about RSC's being unhappy in the wet to go stupid, and it's gonna take me a while to get used to driving it so just going to build up my confidence nice and slow.

Got suggested the other day to get some steel or cheap alloy wheels with winter tyres for these 'orrible months that are about to decend on us. Was told that this would be better as it would save the nice alloys (which do not have a single scratch on!) and handling would be much better on slippy roads...anyone give me some advice on this?

Cheeeeeeeaaaaaaars! :rasp:

problem you have with getting steel wheels is you need 15" ones as thats the smallest size that fits over the wheels! your best bet is to just get some cheap 15" alloys that are screwed and use them, and yep the thinner the tyre the more grip you get in snow and ice (look at rally cars on the snow stages ;))

Cheers for the info mate, where do ya reckon the best place to find a pair of f*cked alloys is, scrapyard or something?

Also, any recommendations on good winter tyres (make/model, etc...)

You have the best colour 172, I love that colour, get some pics up when you get her, and enjoy! :D

Cheers!...Well wanted one in black but I saw this and love it, think they're quite rare, never see them advertised for sale anywhere (and i've been looking for some time!)

Noticed you live in Romford, i'm from Colchester, where do you get yours serviced...recommend anywhere good that's NOT a stealership? ;)

Nissan Sunny Pulsar.....Nah not really, much better than that...Ford Escort 1.6lx - And yes, before anyone says anything I know i'm in for a shock. However, I have had fairly fast cars in the past (Corrado G60 being one) and the 'scort' was bought coz I had to buy a cheap car when I returned from my snowboarding season last year....:D

Cool, my dads got a flame red 172 which I borrow every now & again.

Tbh I really wouldn't worry about getting winter wheels, but if you want some i'd say just go for a set of 16" steelies from a laguna - assuming they are the right offset etc, but your car will look sh*t with them on !
