Good mpg!

Just got back from driving to liverpool from crewe for the last minute christmass shoping and managed a average of 36.9mpg!!!

Thats the best i have got out of the car upto now. It wasn't all motorway either, there was a few b road overtakes and town driving too.

Very pleased lol:)

Truely is mate! my ctr would never see over 35mpg:eek:

Due to the car weighing less tho i suspose, i find i can drive the clio without booting it everywhere, i could never drive the ctr normal lol.

Yes mate.

I never bought the 172 for it's fuel economy, but it's certainly a perk, over the thirstier 197 ;)

Seem to get about 26 mpg around town and 34 mpg on a run out of my 182, however I did a fast run up the M3 from southampton the other day and I was down to 26mpg.
The same day I drove a BMW 330d MSport from Wolverhampton to Frimley, Surrey and got 42mpg out of it despite extensive driving at 80-100 ( where safe) on the mways and dual carriageways.

So I would say you need to put a bit more pressure on the accelerator pedal:)
Cars are like women --- they need to be used hard to get the best out of them :p
Remember if we can get enough CO2 into the atmsophere the we will Med style temperatures instead of 4c

Mate it's winter why would i want to drive like a nob on public roads, the roads are really greasy atm plus the car has no abs.

Will only push the car hard when driving alone, it's nice to drive normal when i have the misses and 5 year old son in the car.

I usually ride a bike on the cold wet greasy winter roads---- imagine how that feels? Too much power limited contact patches.
There is plenty of grip out there--- just be progressive with the throttle and early on with the brakes for bends, plan ahead-- much safer
If you really want to see how fast you can go in the crap just go along to a rally. When you see guys travelling at 90mph on muddy forest tracks with trees either side of the ,you will see different.
I remember watching Uhar Kannkinen at Mira in the Snow at night and his brakes were glowing bright orange--- thats how fast he was going.

Just take it easy and build confidence and skills on winter roads-- then when the summer comes it gets so much easier:)

are all these readings from the on board computer. i check mine all the time but there never right. work it out by how much fuel to miles you have used

I found most of the on board computers are not too far off the mark and are fairly accurate, but not completely. IF you really want to check out overall fuel consumption measure litres/ gallons against mile over four or five tankfuls, with a bigger sample you should get less error.
50mpg out of a 1.2---- I've always found the small petrol engines outstandingly frugal and given the extra price of diesel you have to think are they worth it. Last time I drove a 1.2 clio I thought it was a very complete small car easily crusing at 60-80 mph with lovely soft suspension and very quiet, reasurring drive for a budget drive--- nice wheels

I have just read through the post and i never meant to sound like a dick tbh:eek:

The car gets punished mate most of the time but i always stick to speed limits around town ect. I'm just taking it easy at the mo with the greasy roads and ice ect...need two new front tyres at the front for summer:cool:

Escorted the gf to uni last night and sat at a constant 60mph for 36 miles saw 50.1 mpg for most of the journey!

Car hardly ever gets under mid 30's at worst but thats due to the type of roads im on.

I struggled for more than 28mpg to and from Edinburgh tonight...(100 mile round trip) all motorway..that was at 80ish tho..

I have just been to Newcastle and back from Ashford. In total about 700 miles. 34.2mpg. Most of it motorway, most of it at 80, some at 90, bit's at 50 :)

2 tanks of BP Ultimate

heh heh, yep, went for drinks Thursday night. Only picked up the car on Tuesday, so I thought I'd take it for a little run :).

Do 182's come with some sort of adaptive volume stereos? I swear everytime the speed crept above 80, the stereo got louder. I never noticed it in my 172.

Not that it matters as the stereo is comming out tomorrow anyway, as are the speakers, mainly because it hink I may have blown one of the standards. Again. (Did it in my 172 within about a week of having it)
