Alright folks? Just saw a 53 plate 172 Cup for sale, its got high miles with 87k on the clock but looks very clean inside and out. Doesnt give any info on service history etc but can easily phone the guy and find out. The guy is asking £3500 for it, was going to offer £3000...

Would definately go down to offer £3000! Need to find out the other details, as you said FSH? Cambelts been done? Should definately of been done by now!

that does seem cheap for a late one, but i'm not up on what the books are saying at the moment. have you had a look in Parkers, etc?

I wouldnt say its overly cheap mate keeping in mind the belts will have to have been done, if its got religious service history and is in very good condition id say its worth 2800 at most tbh

belts should cost you around £3-400 on a Cup, if you shop around.

Yeah your probably right about the belts etc, tried phoning up about it there but no answer, will try again later.
Pity the one in that link isnt a bit nearer Edinburgh or would make a few inquiries about it! If the one i mentioned turns out to be a tub then will just wait for something else to turn up i reckon.

Edinburgh to west midlands? 296 miles, piece of piss in a Renault Sport mate.

If it was a toss up between paying less and getting one close by or paying a fraction more and getting a minted id be buying a train ticket to the west midlands.

Only says some service history, is 7 years old and no mention of belt changes, proberly would offer £3k if that? Interested to see what other people think!

Remember one thing, hes selling. Your buying so techinically the balls in your court.
The swinger is going to be if the belts havent been done, this is an absolute must if it hasnt already been done. If they have, test the water and remind him you would be coming from Edinburgh to potentially buy...!

At any decent specialist (not Renault, they couldnt diagnose a lit petrol light) Your looking at atleast £400-550, id recommend the conversation be started with history. A HPi is well worth it as alot of the Cups have front end damage during the killing season due to no ABS i use www.mycarcheck.com a very safe £3.95 well spent.

Call the lad up and see whats what with it
