got my cam belt service done...

  glanza
just got my 72k cam service done. wasnt sure if it was done after 5 years (51 plate) so i got it done anyway. also had to get new engine mounts as one had snapped!! and the price.... a sexy £295 all in. pretty chuffed as the figures id been reading were more than double that for price?

i also set to superglueing the rubber on my steering wheel back on, shabby job but it feels better on my hands when driving, ill get some pics. also put silver paint on my alloys to hide the black kerbing lol actually made a difference but on inspection obviously its noticable. cant wait to get some pictures up after ive gave it a clean.

where did you get that done?? seems very very cheap with engine mounts too, was it cambelt and aux belt and all pullys etc??

A renault cambelt kit, and renault aux belt kit together are over £250 with the vat, thats not including rear seals or labour either!

he priced it for me before actually checking it himself lol plus ive took all my cars to him so pretty friendly with him. the engine mounts were just 2nd hand.

it in bathgate between edinburgh and glasgow. the guy is a legend, he does things so cheap its excellent.

cheap is best when your a student about to start back uni lol. but yeh he must have sourced them somewhere else. i trust the guy and he has always done good jobs on my other cars. i thought he has given me back a brand new car after he sorted my 106 gti a year ago. im just glad its done and dusted, peace of mind! btw, odd question but does bigger alloys than standard slow the car down? thanks

^not particulary true, if he has not replaced the cambelt kit, and a tensioner / guide pulley breaks, its the same as not replacing the belt!!! Same for the auxiliary belt, if it comes off it can bring the cambelt off with it!!

Cheap may be good, but not when your spending 1K plus fixing it again!! I would check exactly whats been done!!

I take it that the £250 for the cambelt kit is only relevant for the 1*2s? Looking at getting mine done, but I've been quoted cheaper than that.
