Got the fright of my life!

  Motorbikes
Was driving home from Stirling this afternoon, after being in Glasgow too, and noticed that I could actually notice the fuel gauge slowly dropping from half a tank to nearly empty in around 5 mlies(ish), so I stopped in Gargunnock getting a bit worried. Fuel leak thought I, got out opened the bonnet and noticed a puddle of petrol lieing on the ground below my car! Getting a bit worried by this stage so called my Dad to let him know I had stopped and he came to help me. Whilst he was on his way I noticed that the fuel line going into the injector rail had came off and all the petrol had leaked out it! All I had to do was reconnect it and try and get to the nearest petrol station, which was at the top of a steep climb in Kippen another 5 miles down the road! Atleast the engine bay never went on fire! All I'm out of now is 20 quids worth of fuel and a stinking car!

It fine now, most of it went onto the ground. gave it a wee clean inside and that sorted it. fuel line is securely attached to the injector rail now. i do consider myself very lucky it didnt catch on fire.

i had a problem like this my mk1 valver was smelling of petrol popped the bonnet and there was a pin sized hole in the fuel line and when the hose was under pressure there was a stream of petrol spraying out over the inlet manifold, not good! all fixed now

3.5 bar on the 1.2s mate.the clips holding it in must be dodgy mine is a pain to get of at the best of times.
seriously though you are an extremely lucky guy,the pipes routed along the side of the head and right next the the manifold how it didn't catch fire i don't know
