Gran Turismo 4 Hi-Def Help

Done a lot of research and found that GT4 can be played in 1080i on ps2. Bought the component cable but after reading how to set it up, I realised that I don't have the option to change format output (ie. 480i/480p/1080i). The american manual shows it but I dont have the UK manual, can someone please check their GT4 has this option?

Its in the screen options in general options. Someone please let me know if its possible, itd driving me insane!

For some (stupid) reason, the UK version does not have 1080 support

NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! I been dying for weeks to get back home and play it. Would the US version of GT4 play 1080i? And will I need my ps2 fiddled with to play US games?

If you imported a US copy then I don't see why it wouldn't work. You would need to fiddle with the PS2 to play the disc though. I don't know a lot about that stuff but I did see a kit that allowed you to play copies and imports without opening the unit itself.

However the HD mode in GT4 isn't actually true HD. I'm not sure how it works, but the PS2 certainly doesn't have the horse power to render that game in 1080i. I suspect it's some sort of upscaling instead.
