Greenstuff Bedding In?

  BMW M135i
Changing my mintex extreme pads for some greenstuff to get rid of the squeel and hopefully a generally better pad. Just wondering what the procedure for bedding them in is as they don't come with any specific instructions just not to heavily brake for the first few hundred miles?

The mintexs had a set procedure to follow so i'm wondering if these do too?

As with most pads a hard bd in is needed.

Get the car to about 60mph then brake hard get the speed down to 10mpg then get back ot 60 and brake hard again do this a few times you might find the pedal goes soft its just the way. Then try not brake for a bit let the brakes cool down.

Don't stop the car fully with your foot on the brakes if you have to.

he's right basically drive like a t**t till your brakes go off then drive easily to cool them job done

I thght if u stamp on it straight away you'll glaze them over? Or is that just with new discs and pads?

Oh rite I just fitted new disks and green stuff pads and was told to brake lightly for 50 miles and avoid slamming the brakes on etc

They gonna be bedded in ok now? :S

Glazing is caused by excessive heat on the pad so stamping on it isnt going to do any good surely? Also I've read a few bedding in guides and they all say brake moderately or 70% to a near stop not hard braking :S

Extended periods of light breaking will heat them up as much as a short periods of heavy breaking. My initial comment was slightly tongue in cheek though. I usually do about half a dozen 70 to 10mph then drive normally (like your mum would) for a couple of days. Check the disc to make sure theres no heat rings ie the pad has bedded in across the disc surface, job done!

Fit new pads. Drive gingerly to long straight quiet road. Do as many 80 - 10 mph hard stops until you feel fade.

I fitted some greenstuffs and went to bed them in. Withought ABS they would have locked the wheel at about 40 mph no problems. Could hear the tyres chirp and the abs rattle. lol.

Decent enough pads, although not to sure how they'd stand up to abuse from some relly hard driving.
