grinding noise coming from brakes

  Dci 100
front passenger side brake is making a grinding noise when i brake...its been getting worse over the last week, is this likely to be pads? guessing its not just grit stuck in there

My pads split into two pieces when I took them off to change 'em. I would get it looked at m8. See if you can get a free brake check done somewhere, if you don't want to do it yourself.

Depends where you go, I guess. Jack the car up and get the wheel off. You'll soon know if your brakes are worn m8. What the mileage and have they been changed before?

I personally wouldn't trust even a Reno stamp to say that the brakes have been checked properly. Usually just a kick of the tyres from what I hear. :( I would look personally get the wheels off and then make a judgment call on how worn the brakes are. Quite a lot of the pad isn't good for braking when the pads are worn. You will be able to tell that just by a visual check. My Greenstuff were at least double the width on the pad itself. It sounds like they may need changing tho really. As Edde says, it is an easy job to do brakes m8.

mine had seperated from the backing, cracked, glazed and the inside of the passenger side was wedged in, needing to be levered out.

Renault did the 36k just weeks before, note for brakes just said 60% worn!!

Its what people who dont know sh!t want tho. Id much prefer to take mine to Alex @ Charlton or Mike @ Rentech but the majority will see it as inferior to FRSH whilst its totally the opposite.

Renault are so bad i have not once left not feeling hard done by or plain angry.

I pay more for cars serviced by decent garages. FRSH means nothing to me and would pay less.
