Grinding/rubbing noise on turning

  172 Cup
Hey chaps, heard something strange today while cornering hard to the right (going round a mid-sized roundabout on a dual-carriageway), I heard a sort of grinding noise from the near-side front wheel region. The noise wasn't too loud and it didn't last long, just a split second, but noticeable enough to worry about.

Now I took a look at the wheel when I stopped, tyre didn't seemed to be damaged, so I don't think it was rubbing on the bodywork, but I didn't think it was that anyway.

I tried to make it do it again a few times, but it didn't, then it did it again later today under same circumstances. I haven't had a good look around the back of the wheel arch yet... Just wondered it anyone has any suggestions?

Thanks.

Could be a brake pad sticking in your caliper or CV joint on its way out. is there any grease on the inside of your wheel? if so check your CV boots for splits.
Also check your steering rack gaitors while your at it.
Check wheel bearings for play too.

Well, I'd still like to know what it is. Just because it's French doesn't mean you should dismiss every problem.

If the engine blew up after 10K would you say it was standard French build quality? :)
