and I can't get rid of the fooking thing! tried all my spyware programs and my anti-virus software but nothing's touching it. I've got a stoopid little ? on my task bar. I cannot remove it or find it on my program files, but whenever I click the ? it simply directs me to a poxy spyware removal site that you've to pay for!
It keeps popping up a balloon saying Critical System Error which if I click, again it takes me to the spyware site! :dapprove:

When you click the ? What website does it take you to. Then i can find you instuckstions on removal.

Try this: Click on Tools, then Internet Options, then Programmes, then Manage Add-On at the bottom of the page, and disable anything that you do not recognise. Reset your comp and that may sort you out....

Sounds a bit like the spy-axe virus that keeps popping up on taskbar to say you have an infection then directs to a site where you have to pay(part of the scam).

The good news about this type of infection is at least you know what it is called by clicking on the link, do a google search for removal procedures on the name of the virus.

Thats weird that's exactly what i've been trying to get rid of. Tried at least four different programs and none are detecting it!

If no virus prog or spyware remover (E.G SpyBot S&D, Ad-Aware) can find it then it may be a rootkit. Try AVG Anti-Rookit.

I had some spyware on a work PC the other day that Spybot S&D or McAfee could not find. Kept trying to make you go to a anti-vrius/spyware remover site. The prog above found and removed it.

Some AV programs won't detect it, you only know you have it because it pops up on the taskbar,

Spy Axe removal instructions -

Also check for these files and registry keys/values and delete if necessary .

Don't trust any software that "claims" to have found spyware and then asks you to purchase the software. It's all bullsh*t.

Paste that Hijackthis log in here mate. Doesn't matter how large it is.
