Ah well, I'm kinda glad it looks awful... it'll save me buying it.

Five years ago, I'd never have said that. I was a total GT fanboy.

If that plays anything like it looks, which I suspect it will, then it's a shame.

No one cares about polygon count, to a degree, as long as it 'feels' right. That's why Forza 3 nails it, and GT fails. :(

most disapointing thing about forza is its on 360 and you can rewind the race so far if you make a mistake. I think the above looks fine, well apart from the damage id rather it not have.

"Damage modelling" = flapping doors?

F*cking hell, really?

They should take a leaf out of Dirt 2 (Codemasters) book.

Do they have a vid of one of the 800 cars which doesn't have swingy doors when damaged? lol

I love the GT series and there is no doubt that it looks graphically better than FM3 but there are so many things that the GT fanboys loved ramming down peoples throats that haven't actually happened ie super detailed damage etc. Yet here we are so very close to the latest launch date and the damage is at best mildly better than fm3 and hardly world changing

TBH thats like saying xxx game is shite because you can pause and restart. The best part of FM3 is the online racing which works superbly and you obviously can't rewind the races then. Add to that the infinate number of amazing paintjobs that people come up with and the accurate engine fx and spot on feeling of grip and weight and it all makes sense

  Turbos.
I think Forza is too overrated, i really like it, but it's too arcade for me. The physics aren't accurate, they are just more fun (than GT4). Forza has instant playabilty, whereas GT4 took a while to get used to, and it was probably guilty of being too much of a sim. If GT5 meets in the middle, it will be perfect...for me anyway!

Have you played GT4 recently? I did a few weeks ago, because I found my copy in the cupboard.

I f*cking loved that game. But things have moved on, simulation-wise.

Forza was shocking! Hated it...I'm not a big gamer, but GT was always my favourite. I'll buy it. Bought a PS3 a yr or so ago, played it....4 times!

I'm a massive GT fanboy, I have them all apart from that Tokyo motor show edition, and even I have to admit that looks crap.

As someone else said I'd rather they didn't bother with the damage!

Still gonna buy it regardless though lol

You can rewind a race if you make a mistake? How ridiculous.

Do you mean Forza 3 m8? It always seems to move on..playing fm2 seemed good then when the demo of 3 came out and I went back to 2 it seemed worlds apart. Driving a big heavy car then a lighter one really showed it off imo...playing an admittedly older version on gt5 it just seemed like every car floated and had no feeling of actual grip. I just can't see how fm3 could be described as shocking...unless you were playing one handed with a battered mars bar in the other! xx

Totally.

Like incomplete interior views, Flymo sound effects, a base of cars from previous games and Torville & Dean physics. But hey, and least GT5 punishes the amateur player, because that's what it's all about, eh.

You don't need to use it.

Offtt...Don't know, didn't know there was more than one version. Jason's the gamer, he'll know. Didn't like 'it' tho. The game, not the battered marsbar.

Erm. DiRT2 looks and plays better than that now. In fact DiRT3 isn't too far off.

I don't have either console, so I'm hardly biased. But increasingly each release of a GT5 clip leaves me thinking "Is that it?"

You've missed out another vital point about rewind. Racing is all about the online, can you rewind an online race er no you f**king can't. People keeping dragging up rewind seriously get over it, you don't need to use it and even if you were tempted it should be rare you'll be able to, unless you've got no mates...

As for GT5 this is the first GT I've had literally no excitement over. As a former GT fanboy I'm gutted, I really want to be excited about this game but I really can't see any reason to be at the moment.

Just saw this on gamestation's website £149.99, must be a joke or something?!

As for the game itself, I've not seen too much of it, but judging by the rally video, it just looks wrong, the physics of the car looks crap, the chase camera is all wrong, the flapping doors don't need another comment, If I was given 5 years to make a game, I reckon I could do a better job.

I used to be a GT fan boy back in the day when it was years ahead of the rest, now it looks outdated before its even released.

Frequently have some awesome racing on Forza with some of the guys of CS. Public lobbies I agree can be a minefield but that goes for any genre on any platform.

  Octy VRS
Hmm, doesn't look that great I'll agree but that was a particularly boring and empty track and the vid was terrible. I'll reserve judgement until I see some proper footage.

PMSL. What a stack of old s**t. Better physics in GT Racing. On my iPhone.

As for online. Try playing GT5 Prologue. Get shunted off the circuit by a n00b. Take time penalty for your troubles while n00b zooms off and does the same to the next car ahead. Tyre noises that would be shamed by Pole Position. The real simulator my hairy plums!

+ 1 for the trackdays...sounds pretty cool to be able to join a random free mode with some totally different classed cars and just enjoy a blast

Chris

Nothing you can't do on Forza tbh. If you don't have any restrictions on class, drive type etc then there's nothing to say you can't do the same thing. In fact I'm sure we have in the past until someone pulls out a 2 ton 4WD U class noobmobile.

  Nippy white cup
True but I like the idea that you could join a track with people all ready flying round and you could just come out of the pits....what would be even better would be if you had no indication of what other cars were already on. Assuming thats the way it would work of course
