Gtechniq C4 - permanent trim solution inside

This really deserves its own thread IMO. It has been mentioned before, but over the weekend I had a spare five minutes to actually wash the car and use this product.

The idea behind it is plain and simple - it is a permanent solution to dull trim, rather than reapplying gels and finishing products every other week/month.

Pictures after a wash with BTBM, cleaned with APC and a Raceglaze brush and then a wipe down with IPA to ensure the area was thoroughly clean;

To say the results are pleasing is an understatement. Thus far I have not found another product that beads quite as well as this. Longevity will obviously be tested over the coming weeks, months and (fingers crossed) years!

Nope, printed their logo onto a piece of detailing tape, then used a scalpal to cut out the letters. Then tape on, rub over with product, buff off and remove tape.

Looks very expensive for a small bottle but it would be worth it if it lasts for as long as it claims to.

Let us know how long it last cos I'm sick of having to apply AG Bumper Care after every wash!

This is precisely the idea buddy, it means it will just stay in place rather than topping up every other wash.

Yeah you wouldn't have to worry how long it'll last it's pretty much permanent. I can imagine it outlasting the 12months easily.

Rob seems to suggest 18-24 if applied correctly and cared for, i.e. washed well with something like BTBM.

Bought one bottle buddy. Used about half, but defo too much. Could have used less but got round all rubbers and plastics.

How would this stand up to the likes of TFR etc?

As i'm a lazy git, I tend to soak the whole bottom half of my car in TFR, pressure wash it all off, then wash with normal car shampoo.

If it will withstand all of that, i'll be ordering some in the morning!!

Looks impressive, I would try it but i have no plastic left on my car apart from rear bumper strip to warrant getting a bottle.

I have G1 on my glass, I rate it highly, Only trouble is the water flys off so fast i cant have my windows open a tad in the rain any more because it all floods in !!

:) Trim is important to make the car look fresh.

Grey trim/tyres bring the finish/cleanliness of the paint down.

First off, I'm glad this has attracted some attention for Rob's product as it really is superb.

Dan, that I don't know, but I can ask if you'd like?

Looks pretty impressive that - may have to look into some myself. Thanks for sharing

No problem Jim, really worth it for cars that you have upkeep contracts with, as this will cut your finishing time in half.

As Gally says, this also works on rubber trim, plastic mirror surrounds, arch liners etc etc. Well worth it for a £20 permanent solution.

Cheers Jim. Interesting read. Alot of the G-Techniq stuff is attracting my eye lately.

Agreed. C2 particularly.

Scuttle, wing mirrors, door rubbers, wipers. :)

Arch liners, aerials, door plastic interior trims... ;)

Dan, from the supplier;

"doesn't seem to affect it too bad if a relatively weak concentration. stronger concentrations will compromise longevity though."

"If it's a caustic tfr used almost neat then I'd say it'd compromise the finish. Surlely if he picks something that's non caustic and uses decent dilutions then he's got nothing to worry about. Just make sure it's not brick acid lol"

Man, can't wait to use this product! If all goes to plan, I will offer this as a bit of a 'bolt-on' service for those cars with more plastics than you can shake a stick at!! (it's a shame I didnt have the product before completing the recently worked on Mini Cooper; that would have been an ideal test mule)

did wonders on my little fiat punto, bumpers are all black and mirrors and door handles etc.. Ordered a 25ml bottle and it's probably the best thing I've bought for the car since owning it. Still got about 17ml left :D Leaves a nice black finish to the bumpers and not too glossy. Best of all... Very nice beading to match the paintwork. Utterly shocked that it beaded at all.

Best £29 I've ever spent and if it lasts as long as 2 years it'll save me a lot of time and effort with bumper black crap.

Just can't get enough of the g-tech products and i'm only a beginner at detailing :( 17 and hooked!

Lots of plastic on them and don't i know it, suppose that serves me right for buying a girly car ;)

Chap this would be right up your street with so much plastic. It will actually look and bead like paint work with wax on it!
