GTT engine conversion

  Trophy #473

Can anyone help me, i looking for some one that has had a GGT engine put in there pre 98 clio. I would like to know how it drives and what the reliabilitys like, and who carried out the conversion. your input would be brilliant... before i pay for this to be done. thanks

Reliability is down to you, uprate your headgasket first of all, dont run silly boost on standard internals and wait till the temp is up before ragging it and itll be as reliable as any other car.

Where you based you could come and see mine

Its faster, kicks lower down the rev range and its easier to tune.

But id still love to get a 2.0 and mod that, as 200 BHP from a GTT wont be a match for 200 BHP from an F7R !!

180bhp so far :devilish: got some laughing gas to on as well. hehe

I imagine 200 bhp from a GTT would be interesting!

A 200bhp GTT should be putting out more torqe than the F7R id have thought and the engine should be lighter so why wouldnt it be a match (well up to like 110/120 anyway)

I reckon if youve got 180 and Nitrous then youd do a clio GTT with 200 BHP

Not if it ran out of NOS http://www.rtoc.org/boards/i/laugh.gif

ive had it done, i live in St Helens, your welcome to see mine mate

i had mine done at Grey Devil in Cambridge, there is loads of satisfied customers on here from GDI (Grey Devil Industries) you simply cant go wrong

my reliability has been fine, i had a water leak but thats resolved now, as said above its down to you and your maintenance, i change the oil every 3k, using Silkolene Pro R, not cheap, but very high quality, i bleed the coolant pipe bleed screws every week or 2 just to make sure no air is in the system, i check the oil once a week, i NEVER rag it from cold, ever

it drives brilliantly, a bit firm as im on coilovers however thats obviously nothing to do with the engine, the kick from a turbo is great and i really dont see how i could own a normally aspirated car ever again

cant belive how many replys ive had i only posted it at 5.30.

I live just out side grantham, lincolnshire. Ive never heard of GDI, ive been enquiring at other places like prima racing (notts) K-tec and BBT. but no replys yet.

Can i askn how much your conversion cost and what mods have u done on the engine, is urs a valver or a basic model. i wouldnt mind riding in one just to see how it is. ive got a web site on my car its, http://members.cardomain.com/nathscliohttp://members.cardomain.com/nathsclio. it mite take a bit of time to load cos theres 55 pics on it.

not sure how much my conversion cost as i kept adding bits to it along the way

ive got, BMC CDA Induction Kit, Piper 285 Cam, Lightened Flywheel, Gasflowed Head, Engine Balance, lots of Silicone Hoses, etc etc

mines a 1.4RT

currently @ 9psi but that will change to at least 14psi when i get a new turbo, have that fitted and set up

personally id jus take it to GDI, its about a 250mile+ trip for me as i live in the north west but it was definitely worth it

alrite mate, seen your car when you first got it on the web , looks alot better now ,good on ya

Ive got a phase 3, a GTT in your 1.2 would be a real street sleeper! but lets face it a valver will look better than a phase3 with black bumpers lexus lights etc! handle betrter etc! and probably be cheaper to insure!

I have both a valver and a GTT. Im running about 15psi of boost in the GTT and it kicks my valvers ass easy. Loads more torque low down and is great fun. It seemed to break all the time at first but not since i rebuilt the engine & gearbox and put ina valeo volvo 480 turbos clutch.

this was somehting iwas looking into also, then got caught up ina 172 conversion that was gonna cost about £2300 all in

Sounds exactly like me, the GTT at 15 psi kills the 16v
